Not guaranteed that Kofi is gone either.

He’d be a fool to stay.

Why though? He isn't getting drafted high, if at all. Sure he could go to G-League or Europe, but he could also stay and start making money on his likeness.

Granted, I still think he's leaning towards leaving, but it's not as closed as some may think.

Why risk injury? Even though he’s one dimensional, he’ll get drafted and make some money and develop his game at the next level.

Is he a 1st round material? I'm not 100% sure he is talent/skills-wise right now, but you also can't teach height and size so... :dontknow: Only 1st round pick contract is guaranteed IIRC.

He needs to stay another year and work on expanding on his skill set IMO.

The mocks I've seen have him mid- to late-second round. If he stays and improves his shooting & passing he could be first round easily.

Absolute zero chance he's 1st Round

Yeah, not a chance in hell, now, if he comes back and gets more of a game. He's got a decent stroke, you can see it at times on his FT's. There's no reason he can't develop a three point shot along with a mid-range jumper, turn around jumper, he does those things I'd say he's a first rounder for certain.

He was a 55% FT shooter. Down from 68% last year. I think it’s highly unlikely he develops a consistent shot, but who knows. I think the more times he confirms he can’t shoot or pass, the farther he drops. At least now some teams can squint and see potential and may draft him in the second round and keep him around for a year or two.

I'm cautiously optimistic about next season for the Illini, in some ways Kofi and Ayo moving on might be a good result. Curbelo will take over at PG he's already close to a, if not better, play maker Ayo was, he can go left and right meaning a team can't shut him down by taking away his preferred direction like Loyola did to Ayo. Miller' going to get better and be more aggressive, wouldn't surprise me a bit if he turns out to be a better shooter than Frazier. They've got a shooter and a slasher coming in the recruiting class, plus I think they're going to get a couple of more commitments in a shooter from WI and a transfer from Texas Tech - Burnett. Of course, I been hopeful before and it turned to horsefeathers, see Bruce Weber and John Groce.

We showed we can be solid without Ayo when he was hurt. I feel really good about next year, especially if Kofi stays.

Looks like Shaka Smart is leaving the 40 Acres for Marquette. I'm sure John Wooden and Phil Jackson are at the top of their list of replacements.

The IU women eliminated the 1st 1 seed and are in the Elite 8 for the first time in school history!

And just like that all the nonsense about Loyola being a NC contender is put to rest, zone? Who knew a zone against a team without the best handles and a PG capable of breaking anyone down off the dribble would work? Not much of stretch from a coaching viewpoint, what do think coach Underwood? Man its frustrating to think if Underwood benched Frazier, started Curbelo in the 2nd half and pressed or zoned them there's a better than average chance the outcome would have been different. I do not know if Underwood and the coaching staff are just plain stupid or were too stubborn to make adjustments.

So, Indiana pays $10M for Archie Miller to go away so that they can hire Mike Woodson?

Can't decide if I like the hire or not. Leaning towards "not" considering his 63 years old, but I'll give him a shot. Gotta stop with these 6 year deals though.

It reads like Woodson at his age wants to get his alma mater on the right track, and then hope Matta can clear up whatever medical issues he has and take over? If thats not the case then it seems like Matta will be breathing down Woodson's back given the failed pursuit of Matta last week.

This is pretty crazy:

His next school will be his FOURTH college. 2017 with Miami Ohio, then sat a year, 2019 with Oklahoma State, then sat a year, 2021 with Texas Southern, now a Grad Transfer so he'll play immediately somewhere. He'd be 25 when next season ends.

Sounds like he'd be a great fit at Wisconsin or Iowa, though he may not be quite old enough for those programs.

Seems like an unnecessary jab at Iowa there, but I've come to expect it from you.

I swear Bohannon has been playing there since the 90's.

Yeah, it feels like they are trying to do like the Bears should and create a "basketball operations" type situation where they dedicate part of the athletic department simply to get the basketball program back where it needs to be. Woodson seems like a John Fox type, older, NBA experience, hired to get the traditional culture back in place. Matta gives them an experienced basketball guy to help this along, or perhaps takes over to take the program to the next level once the culture is back.

Woodson is an IU alum who played for Bobby Knight, so he checks boxes for the boomer donors/boosters. His NBA career is a good selling point for recruits. Matta is there to provide mentorship/guidance (as Woodson has never coached college)

Kim Mulkey of Baylor Lady Bears says NCAA should do away with COVID-19 testing for Final Four

"After the games today and tomorrow, there's four teams left, I think, on the men's side and the women's side," Mulkey said, unprompted, during her postgame news conference. "They need to dump the COVID testing. Wouldn't it be a shame to keep COVID testing and then you got kids that test positive or something and they don't get to play in the Final Four? So you just need to forget the COVID tests and get the four teams playing in each Final Four and go battle it out."

Well that's certainly an opinion to have. Not a wise one, but still an opinion.
