Scott's one of those guys I've wanted to poach for a while. He throws gas and allowed just 5(!!!!!) HRs in 256 MiL IPs to go with 321 Ks and 186 Hs allowed...I don't really see a huge ceiling though, that's Burl Carraway, and Fry might be the better choice thanks to being the better MLer and strike thrower before also finding a groove this season

Scott’s BB numbers scare me given our history with relief pitchers coming in who aren’t even as wild as him and losing their horsefeathers. 13% BB rate for career, 13% this year, 15% last year. Not doubt the stuff is there to be a thing but Fry seems safer.

Yeah, making the decision easier should be that the Cubs basically have 3 guys who can be > Tanner Scott with power stuff from the left side in Steele, Marquez, and Carraway. Steele's probably not crazy far off from Scott, probably has a better breaking ball too

I wish they would’ve given Steele 1-3 appearances while he was up to see if he was a thing. I think there’s a decent lefty reliever in him and he might be better than anyone we add anyways.

Doubt we're on him now, but obviously good to have him available in the offseason. Although if they're not planning to pick up his very reasonable $12.5M option that's ominous as hell for this winter.

Have to imagine if they trade him he won't be available this offseaosn because the new team will pick up his option.

I mean with a very uneducated eye gazing at Osich's 2020 numbers gets a 'not great bob' from me.

Half of his runs (5 of 10) and HRs (3 of 6) given up came in one outing. He has pretty strong K numbers and doesn’t really walk guys, can throw mid 90s with a curve and slider, lefties .211/.283/.381 vs him for career. Seems decent enough.

It looks at first glance like he's unluckily had an extra couple balls go over the fence, and that everything else is fine. That said, he's had a higher than expected HR/FB rate his entire career so it might not be bad luck at this point.

It's interesting seeing the teams that were most active around the deadline. Teams like the Yankees, White Sox, Twins, Dodgers, A's, Astros made almost no moves. The teams that made the most are teams like the Jays, Reds, Padres, Phillies and Cubs. Outside of the Cubs, they are all teams that haven't made the playoffs in awhile and/or are fighting just to get in rather than trying to improve for the postseason.

Which makes sense...teams like the Dodgers don't want to invest in rentals when they could be out of the playoffs in 2 games. But a team like the Jays wants to take advantage of a unique year to get in when they probably werent going to compete in a normal season.

That’s a weird move, for two PTBNL we should’ve been in on him

I might just be wrong here, but it's possible LA didn't want to deal him to someone they might face in the playoffs. I saw a Tweet earlier today about how they were going to be looking at dealing from their depth for farm-system purposes.

Yeah, that’s possible. Still seems like a weird move. He’s controlled for 2-3 more years and has been a valuable swing guy for them and they are always careful with their you g SP. Since they’ve fallen short so often recently I’m surprised to see them sell off and make their team worse this year.

Zach short? Gross. I know he's not a big prospect but he's good infield depth and we traded him for an old meh backup

They didn’t invite him to SB on the 60-man, they must have really soured on him. His high K, low contact profile is something they have enough of and he’s buried a bit in the minors with no real clear path for another year+.
