The Cubs won today. That was good. The Cubs bullpen was a disaster today. That was not so good.

*Small sample size alert*

The Cubs starters have allowed 4 runs in 24 innings. Cubs relievers have allowed 12 runs in 12 innings. Regardless, it was good to see Lester pitch well today, even if it was only one start and 5 innings, and the offense showed up again. Cubs are now 3-1 and sole possession of first place. If they don't want to fall out of first the rest of the year, that would be great.

Mahle's career ERA is just under 5 so hopefully the Cubs light him up to give Mills and the pen enough of a cushion. It would seem likely there will be a lot of runs scored in this one so it will probably finish 3-2 because baseball.

Go CUBS!!

But alas the bullpen looks like a youth 10 and under baseball team pitching staff. Again how much did they let Cishek walk for

It almost seems like the balls are de-juiced seeing these flyballs in this park the last 2 nights and Sunday with the wind going out in Wrigley

I’m really enjoying the new strategy of “getting hits with runners in scoring position”

Yeah, I'm not used to this

Getting the DH has really helped since it has allowed to play multiple of Nico/Vic/Kipnis in there just about every game so far and up the contact ability of the lineup. The approach has just generally been good though, KB and Rizzo were 1-2 in pitches seen in MLB going in to today. Happ and Bote have had solid approaches too.

That just didn't age well.

That’s right.

I digress though, Ross would probably trot him out there every day like Joe did
