Not only do the Warriors suck but Curry broke his hand. Might as well put them in the lottery now.

Also, the Warriors were pretty smart to protect that pick their sending to Brooklyn from 1-20. Would have gone to Brooklyn if it was 21-30 but there's no way that conveys now which means it turns into a 2025 2nd rounder.

Stumbling in to a tank and top ~3 pick this year isn’t the worst thing for them seeing as Klay was out until March/April anyways. Keeps some miles off Curry’s legs and I’m sure Draymond and Looney will be “load managed” now. They will be in a spot to trade for the next disgruntled star (Towns?) too with this pick and maybe Russell as the salary match.

Feels like a Spurs the year before they got Duncan kind of year for them

Maybe, except I don't know if there is any can't miss talent in the draft this year.

Ben Simmons just made his first 3 in a game since college, when he made exactly 1 in 3 attempts. horsefeathering wild he hadn’t made a 3 in the NBA to this point.

doncic is unreal

He’s a top 3-5 player in the league and I think you could make a convincing argument he’s the 2nd best only behind Giannis.

Can’t really argue with you based on performance this year so far. Dude is playing so good. Giannis, Harden, and Doncic have been a clear top 3. With Lebron a smidge below but clearly #4.

This is crazy...

They really need to move the 3-point line back and make it a uniform distance across the entire court.

I’m fine moving it back, but more 3s and spacing and pace is a more fun brand of basketball, IMO, over the 90s and before basketball of dumping it in to a big guy and lane clogging and no space or shooting.

A better 3 point reform would be removing the 3rd free throw for fouled shooters: https://theathletic.com/1360529/2019/11/20/hollinger-the-three-shot-foul-is-a-bad-rule-badly-enforced-with-bad-side-effects-it-needs-to-go/

To sum up the argument:

- 3 shot fouls are disproportionately valuable compared to all other shooting fouls

- Because players know this, they endanger themselves and others to try and get those calls, the exact opposite behavior that a more extreme punishment tries to avoid

- Officials very rarely have the right angle to see when shooters are exploiting the rule with extended legs or exaggerated jumping motions

- No one wants to see players trying to draw fouls every time they shoot a challenged jumper

Sure. I agree with all that, but I still think the 3-pt line needs to be pushed back. Kirk Goldsberry wrote an article about this way back on Grantland showing what the court would look like with this new change. Found some illustrations of what this new court would look like:

It definitely looks weird, but I believe a wider court with a farther 3-pt line would be better and help diversify how modern NBA offenses operate. The midrange game is dead right now and post play is fading away as well. I think there should be a balance between inside post play, the midrange game and long range 3-pt sniping.

I've wanted to say this for awhile but I know it appears that I'm a grumpy old person complaining about how the game is worse than when I was growing up, but I find this style of basketball unappealing. It was fun when the SSOL Suns were running up and down the court launching shots, and loved watching the early Warriors when they were sort of leading the revolution into shooting lots of 3's, but now that many teams are doing this, I've found it less entertaining, especially when its teams that aren't elite doing it.

Though thinking about it, the bruising, no-offense 90's NBA was pretty damn ugly too, as was the hero ball, drive to the lane and flop for FTs NBA of about 15 years ago (think DWade in the 05-06 Finals). So I'm not sure really what style I would really enjoy better than what we have now. I'm probably just turned off by this style because the Bulls suck.

I'm not sure moving the line back will help. Players are already shooting from 2 feet behind the line

I’m not sure moving the fences back will help. Players are already hitting home runs into the second deck.
