Started this last year, might as well do it this year.

The Angels fired Ausmus one year after hiring him, setting up them trying to bring back Joe to the org.

Current/Filled Openings:

NL:

Cubs - Grandpa Ross

Padres - The Tingler

Pirates -

Giants -

Mets - the guy the Cubs should've signed in 2005

Phillies - Angry Joe

AL:

Royals - LOL

Angels - Hippy Joe

Dusty getting an interview with the Phillies.

Seriously? Dusty is still getting interviews?

That has to be an Andy MacPhail move. Dusty makes Joe Maddon look like a coaching savant by comparison.

That's a really strange attempt at an insult.

Figured this works here...

The Dodgers are finalizing a deal to make Mark Prior their next pitching coach, according to Blake Harris of True Blue LA.

That was the expectation after it was announced that Rick Honeycutt was retiring as pitching coach in order to shift into a special assistant role. 2020 will be the first year since 2005 that someone other than Honeycutt has served in the role. Prior has served as the Dodgers' bullpen coach for the past two seasons.

Is it possible to claim that someone who was a 9-time All-Star was underrated? Because when my mind thinks of Beltran my first thought is "underrated". I wonder if that is a symptom of my brain still remembering him being awesome with the Royals in relative obscurity.

I thought Eduardo Perez was the best fit for that job but Beltran's the man so it's hard to say anything negative

Passing on Beltran in FA single handedly set the Cubs back a decade, single handedly!

Oh do you have thoughts about Carlos Beltran and the Cubs?

That offseason I had a custom Beltran Cubs shersey made. Still have it and wear it on occasion!

So why doesn't there seem to be the same "lack of experience" narrative around Beltran as there is with Ross?

That's a good question. I'm guessing because Beltran is a borderline HoF player (maybe has a solid case for the HoF) and was highly regarded by the Yankees?

Both will have experienced bench coaches. David Ross is actually better prepared for this role IMO.

I’m guessing part of it is all the glowing things said about Beltran being a pseudo coach on that Astros team that won the WS and the work he’s done in the Yankees FO. I think he’s maybe also coached a countries team in some international tournament, even if it was like U17 or whatever.
