Can we have a Saints broadcast in New Orleans without voodoo, witch doctors or Emeril goddamned Legasi?

Can we have a national Cubs broadcast without hotdogs, black cats or El trains?

Nothing is wrong with hotdogs or El Trains, it's just the lazy "what's the thing that we use every time we have a Chicago game" tropes that reduce a city (and this is any city) to a cliche.

Almost nobody ever brings up the horsefeathering black cat.

Thinking it's dumb to show local food is dumb, and inexplicably acting like it's even in the same ballpark as how bonkers it is for a broadcast to be going on about horsefeathering voodoo and witch doctors when talking about New Orleans is one of the craziest damn leaps I've ever seen here.

The L is cool and good, it's cool it goes right by the park, and only complete dorks call it the "El."

Guessing you don't watch a lot of Bob Costas calls on Cubs games.

Does anybody watch a lot of Bob Costas calls on Cubs games in the year of our lord twenty nineteen?

Audible groans from me every time I see he is calling the Cubs games on MLBTV, which seems like often.

I'll bet $1000 of Derwood's money that Costas has mentioned the cat MAYBE once since the horsefeathering WS.

I will take the under

I also never grow tired of outsiders talking about the great food of Chicago. I had an Italian Beef for lunch. btw I devoured mine before taking a picture, this is just a photo off google.

The story of this kicker Kaare Vedvik is crazy. He goes 6-6 on kicks in the first preseason game including 4 FGs (1 of them 55 yards) for the Ravens and drew a ton of trade interest from several teams including the Vikings and Bears. The Vikings trade a 5th rounder to get him and he flops, going 1-4 on FG the rest of the preseason and is cut. Somehow the Jets pick him up and make him their starting kicker for week 1, where he misses his oly FG attempt and an extra point in a game the Jets lose by 1 point. Now he's out on the street again.
