Sweep them!! It’d be nice to get all 3 before a big series with the Nats.

The Nats series should be interesting. I saw somewhere that they've been playing at a 108 win pace for the last ~80 games or so, and lately their offense has unreal. RD of +44 in their last 10 games and that's with 2 losses in there.

On the plus side, we miss Scherzer and Corbin.

Hopefully Samardzija remembers he’s sucked for almost his entire career and this season is just a flash in the pan.

What the hell are you talking about?

I'd say he was mixing him up with another Samardzija, but the name is horsefeathering Samardzija.

I still love Jeff for his all-time bad take:

“I don’t think this team improves by trading Scott Feldman,” Samardzija told the Chicago Tribune. “He was one of our better pitchers. He’s thrown a lot of innings, a solid dude, a solid guy in the clubhouse.

“It’s a shame to see him go, and the same with Clevenger. A great dude to have around, a great teammate who played the game hard and played the right way. It’s unfortunate. Just hope the guys they get in return are comparable and bring the same attitude to the field every day that those guys brought.”

Strop and Jake worked out just fine.

I don't really think that's all time bad.

I have no problem with a big league player being pissed that the few other decent big league players (and his teammates) are being shipped off for the sake of a future roster that he probably won't be on. He was pitching his ass off for a team that wasn't trying to win. I don't blame him one bit for saying that.

In fact, I'm not sure I'd expect or want him to feel any other way.

I always like pointing out that trade would have been worked out just fine if we had only received Strop in return.

I think that's more justifiable for the trade that actually sent Shark away, since the MLB team didn't benefit from it right away. The Feldman trade netted them 2 players who immediately went on the MLB roster, and even as soon as that year made the team better. it was a really dumb thing to say.

I mean his career ERA is over 4...

6 pitch inning, road cobs have infested Wrigley

Two balls 107 off the bat. That's OK.

Where do you find this info?

I mean, if we're really going to do this, even in hindsight, Feldman had more fWAR for the 2013 Orioles than Arrieta and Strop combined for the 2013 Cubs.

Even if that weren't the case, though, I have no problem with Samardzija feeling the way he felt at the time and I have no problem with what he said. I don't consider it anywhere near "a really dumb thing to say."

I don't begrudge him missing his fellow member of the rotation, but the fact he was so supportive of his completely garbage MAGA-chud teammate Clevenger is the bigger sin.

Dude, they traded for Jake when he was peak butt (as opposed to the Peak Butt from the body issue) with the O's. And hell, Strop was terrible for them that year to that point, too, so acting like he should have been happy that they went right onto the roster is pretty goofy since neither at that point would have dispelled the idea that the Cubs were just punting the season.

And they both still looked pretty mediocre by the end of the season, too. Well, Jake definitely did.
