Clint is down 1 so he goes to the guy with a 7.20 ERA

Its higher now.

Pirates are about to be 4-24 in the second half and 1-8 of that to the Cardinals. They have to let Clint the Prick go after this game its clear he's lost the team and his mind.

The Reds aren't a good team and are in 4th in this mediocre division and are only close to .500 due to owning us

The Reds' pythag record is 62-53 vs. their actual record of 56-69. They are a decidedly better team than their record indicates.

The Reds winning in a bunch of blowouts doesn't make then a better overall team.

Jesus, just admit you were wrong a single time.

As you would expect the Pirates use a 7.20 ERA pitcher to turn a 1 run game to 3 runs, and the Pirates score what could have been the tying run. Edited by Edith Cox

The Reds aren't that good of a team, just because they won a bunch of blow out games doesn't mean they should be nearly 10 games over .500.

So I'm sure you think any blowout losses also are not similarly reflective of how good or bad they are.

The Reds have a better offense than the Cardinals; to just dismiss the idea they could be a mere 2 wins better than the latter is just being stubborn.

They only had two games they lost by 8 or more runs and 8 wins to skew the RD.

The Reds should have a better offense than the Cardinals they play in a hitters park, the Cardinals don't. What team would have the higher OPS if they switched parks?

You realize all you're doing is digging yourself into a hole where your argument is, "the Reds can't possibly ever be an actual good team," right? When you have to come up with a laundry list of reasons and ever-moving goal posts to argue in the face of the obvious, just punch out already. The Reds are a decent team, and they should have more wins than they do.

And I guess the Cardinals don't count, too, since they're technically a worse offensive team at home, which I can't imagine is the mark of a team you'd dare consider to be worthy of any kind of a winning record.

The Reds aren't a good team they are in 4th place with a losing record in the bottom 5 of the NL.

The park keeping the Cardinals offense down also helps their pitching hence being 11 games over .500 at home with 210 runs allowed.

Playing Russell over Happ was a criminally bad decision by the FO this year.

Question I don't have the answer to. Did Happ really need to work on things, and did he work on those things and that's why he's productive so far? Or is Ian Happ the same Ian Happ as he's always been and should have been up here the whole time if he's up here now?

I don't think we know yet. Happ has always been a streaky hitter who has performed at this level over the course of 15 games a handful of times throughout his career. Time will tell if we're seeing a new, improved Ian Happ or if we're just catching him on a hot streak.

But even if it is a new Happ it's hard to know if the time at AAA really played a part or not.

Lets hope this imaginary good Reds team shows up to play the Cardinals for 4 games next week. Maybe they can get a 4 game sweep to go from 4-7 to 8-7 vs the Cardinals. They are 9-7 vs us and 17-23 vs the rest of the division.

Well they don’t have Heyward leading off so they can probably pull it off.

I think Thom has a random hatred for Bryant. This HR call and the one in 2016 where he shouted “ENOUGH ALREADY” were both KB at bats

Looks like with the forecast in Philly on Tuesday, we are getting two days off. Probably not a terrible thing.

Welcome back. We’ve been long overdue for one of these posts by you.

OK, I know I've been pretty checked out this year but why hasn't Maddon been fired for letting Kris Bryant grow an awful mullet? Or has he been?

this is a conversation that my girlfriend and i have every time we watch a cubs game: kris bryant needs an adult haircut.

Hey, the hair starts thinning up front, you kind of lose your mind for a bit and start thinking you can balance it out by growing it elsewhere.

Most people get over it eventually. Others become president.

To say nothing of the fact that the last thing this team needs is even fewer days off in the final month.
