Whats dumb is how triggered Russell makes you. You would rather lose watching guys go 5-for-40 since he last started, rather than use the better player Theo gave 3M to play.

If baseball is so important to you that you get triggered because you can't cheer for your favorite spousal abuser, you have some serious problems in your life. We're all passionate about the Cubs, but baseball is a game that doesn't actually matter. It's not supposed to be the number one priority in your life. It's not supposed to take precedence over you being a decent human being.

You accused me of liking Trump but people like you are how he somehow got elected.

Yes, the real problem is those politically correct SJW libtards who are way too far to the left on the issue of... being against domestic violence.

Nobody is supporting DV that's another one of your SJW faults where you guys think everyone who has a different view than you is on some monster with extreme views. That crazy point of view is part of why the damn guy got elected and will likley get a second term, normal people are put off by it.

His own ex-wife says he should be allowed to play baseball again, MLB let him play, and the Cubs signed him. So at what point can we move on a let it be about baseball? You don't have to cheer him, but its just silly to not want the best 25 on the roster and the best 9 field when they are already paying him. If you want him off the Cubs being in Chicago to either fail and get cut or succeed and get traded is the best move for your agenda.

Lol. Aren't you the guy who was obsessively cheering about Robel's slump and touting Bryant as a choker because of bad @Stl splits? Who is being silly and not wanting the Cubs to do well because of political reasons here? Is it the entire board? Or the guy with Russel stats on 7 at bats in Reno or 20 ABs against Wainwright when no one else cares, or should care, at all?

Again, nobody is claiming you have to cheer for the guy but this is a country of 2nd chances and if he does the work to turn his life around and doesn't f*** up again, why shouldn't he get a 2nd chance?

Ok, let's set aside that in the same sentence where you allow me to not cheer for Russell, that you imply it's unamerican to not root for him...ok, I'm over it. After his suspension and return to the team, did you see any remorse? Any attempt to make things right? An increased focus on his game? No, I saw him give an interview where he dismissed his "haters" as something to be ignored, and he couldn't be bothered to learn the signs. Normally for a redemption story to work, there needs to be something redeemable about the guy. Not just a .796 OPS over a month's worth of games. Tell me, what is there to cheer for? Simply that he might refrain from abusing women in the future?

I wasn't cheering Garcia's slump at all. I wish he could have hit .325 with 20 bombs the rest of the way since all I give a damn about is winning games, but when it was clear he was exposed by the breaking ball it was time to move on and hope he can figure them out in AAA.

Bryant sucks in St Louis numbers back that up. KB is our best player but 3-for-24 with no walks and 11 K this year in St Louis while adding a GIDP and a bad K on ball 4 which lead to Heyward getting throw out is bad and a big part of why were are 1-5 in St Louis with 9 total runs. When every manager in MLB looks at the splits and H2H vs pitchers to make the line up then it clearly has value in the game and if Russell on the roster he would have started with those numbers.

If Russell comes back up and sucks for a extended while and there are better options to play then I will rip him as well, but a .798 OPS in 38 starts despite a below league average BABIP is good enough to be on this roster and starting. I don't care if he lost a ball in the sun, Rizzo didn't catch a foul today and the guy hit a double right afterwards to set up a 4 run inning to blow the game open. If Russell did that people would still be talking about it.

How do you know what he does away from the field? On the field he has purple on the wrist of his batting gloves for DV awareness, but I bet you were too unaware to notice.

He gets ripped from not admitting mistakes and then gets ripped because he came out on his own and admitted mistakes about being not up to speed on the signs changing while he was in Iowa.

Not everyone. Just you. It really shouldn't be a partisan issue. Yet here you are trying to own the libs because you're mad that people are mad about domestic violence.

So at what point can we move on a let it be about baseball?

You do what you want. But Addison Russell is not entitled to forgiveness. No one is the bad guy if they decide not to just move on and forgive a domestic abuser. And he's not the victim for having to live with that.

If I'm not cheering for him, why would I want him on the team I'm cheering for? If he's already being paid, he can keep getting paid to not be on my TV.

Russell has been more productive than Kyle Schwarber this year in 244 less at-bats

Much like mewling over a mediocre OPS, pointing out that a bad player is technically less bad than another bad player (and when they play totally separate positions, no less), is not the slam dunk you think it is.

People would rather lose than have Russell on their team because if Russell turns his life around and becomes a productive member of society, it completely ruins their narrative about DV people.

There is zero chance someone can type this or say this out loud seriously and not be some kind of lunatic.

Like, you need to think about some horsefeathers REALLLLL hard if this is what a mediocre baseball player has done to your brain.

I don't know. I just wish these new accounts would have the decency to name themselves "Breitbart" or something immediately descriptive. Hell, there's an account at Gateway Redbirds named "MAGA." I appreciate that kind of thing; I can just reflexively ignore and go on my way.

I don't know what Russell has to do with politics anyways. First off, some people can separate personal life from sports. I'm not going to cheer for the guy or buy his jersey but I'd like to see him turn his life around and if he's doing that and he's giving you the best chance to win, he should be on the roster. If Russell were to f*** up again, I'd be first in line in calling for him to be cut.

He already "fucked up" multiple times on multiple levels, as both a professional baseball player and as a human being. This isn't his second chance; this would be about his tenth or eleventh chance, so please spare us with the, "I'll be the first to want him gone THIS time" nonsense.

If only we had things like Addison Russell's apathetic words and actions. Oh well.

We knew all about his stupid Pokemon card collection, yet anything he's doing about being an abusive [expletive] must just be a well kept secret, right?

Oh, but he took the required anger management to keep his job, and he wears colorful gloves. Why are these mean SJWs so unfair to this brave hero who has been through so much?

You are officially triggered and need to find a safe space ASAP.

You don't have to forgive, like or root Russell. The off the field stuff has nothing to do with baseball at this point, His ex wife said he should play, MLB allows him to play and Cubs signed him to play. Everyone is ready to turn the page and move on inducing the victim but yet you SJW out there refuse to let that happen. What else do you guys want?

Russell doesn't work in the media and no reporter is going to dare do a positive story on him to get attacked and called a MAGA fan and all the other extreme accusations you guys make.

only the worst people use these words

Only the worst people get this triggered by something even the victim is ready to move on from. She lived it not you guys, and she said he should be allowed to play so why can't you respect her wishes. You people want him to be banished and not be able to give her child a better life.

This guy is back? I think I've only had one person on ignore in my entire time here but I might be adding our new MAGA clown.

What point is that? That' you'll excuse the most deplorable behavior for winning a game? Glad I made it.

Guy calls everyone else triggered; guy also loses his mind over a bad baseball player being disliked for being a bad baseball player and a terrible human being; guy inexplicably thinks bad baseball player is some kind of salvation for a struggling team based on the tiniest of possible sample sizes, and that bad baseball player is being prevented from saving the team by people who don't like bad baseball players who are bad people; guy, of course, makes besties with the only other turd lurking around here who is a fan of bad baseball player.

This has been quite a journey.

Nope just the Non SJW = automatic MAGA label you guys always jump to. Always worried about everyone's behavior, but never your own. MLB, the Cubs and his wife are fine with him playing so he should be playing and staring for Javy in today's game.

But, hey screw the victims wishes right?

Once again more made up SJW spin.

You can dislike Russell all you want, but to act like Russell's .798 OPS as a starter this year wouldn't be useful is a wrong as the 2B have gone 5-for-40 and we went 3-7 since he last started. If you guys weren't triggered by Russell you would be fine with him the roster, and if you want to compare baseball players then use baseball to do it. You guys would rather lose than risk the chance Russell does something positive.

David Bote is a bad baseball player so why don't you guys have the same feeling on him? He's older, lesser OPS as a starter and a weaker defender but its not about baseball with you guys.
