Now as a five-time All-Star on this board, I've learned that these things tend to go in waves. It all looks like horsefeathers right now, but the team does have a lot of talent. So, it will turn back the other way and we all will be excited again. It's just never fun during the lows, but it always turns around unless your team legit sucks. And I don't think this team legit sucks.

So, this series will get written off as “it was the Astros,” but even when you consider this is without their three best hitters, this team has a serious pitching problem.

Good call.

They’re playing horrible baseball right now. It won’t be forever, but it certainly doesn’t inspire confidence if we have to play these guys in October.

Counterpoint: This season will be an overwhelming success if we have to play these guys in October.

Haha. I mean, if we are playing them in October, let's just enjoy the World Series, right? Let's roll the dice and be pretty happy at that point.

Having zero strike throwing power arms in 2019 is less than ideal

This is true. Other than Yu -- who sometimes doesn't throw strikes -- all our other guys sort of have to be getting the corners and being really on their game or sometimes things get bad.

The Cubs don’t suck but the pitching is a legit big concern to me. Cubs have no power arms in their rotation and are relying on 3 guys with either major injury concerns or are in their mid-30s. Their bullpen has a bunch of AAA arms and a couple of guys who might be considered slightly below average closers. And again no power arms. They have and will pitch better than they have the last 10 days but I’m willing to bet the true skill level is a little closer to this than the dominant period (but then again I can be pessimistic). And if it is, it’s not just 1-2 little fixes that need to be made

What's interesting as I think about it, the top two teams in the Central both don't have any power arms in their rotation for the most part.

Feels like that was Descalso’s longest AB in a month

Not even joking, I'd have taken out the pitcher after he walked him. You know he's losing it at that point.

LOL. Homer or nothing. Still pretty fun. Is this where Joe plays F Theo and brings Lester out to pitch again?
