Will be cool when Tommy Edman is a fringe major leaguer next year at this time slashing .220/.280/.340 but is doing the random cardinal minor leaguer hot streak thing for a 2 month stretch right now.

Pretty much have to win tonight. Two games back and the math can work without needing to go 6-1 or 7-0 against them.

We are getting a Cubs-Brewers WC game

You are close, my friend.

It makes too much sense not to happen after the dumb last 12 months or so.

Gio Gonzalez no hitter.

Gio Gonzalez no hitter.

They’ll go some combo of Gio-Woodruff-Suter-Albers-Pomeranz-Hader for 1-2 innings each to get through 9 and we’ll be lucky to score 2 runs and get more than 6 base runners, even though we’ll have like 20, 2-0, 3-0, 3-1, or 2-1 counts and do nothing in advantageous counts. When we do make hard contact it will just be hit in to a shift.

Honestly think I'd rather the Cubs lose out starting last night then that.

Division or bust, dammit. I love WC games only when my team isn't playing in one.

Clinching the division in St. Louis, and pimping the horsefeathers out of the celebration, would outweigh literally any bad playoff scenario I can think of. By a lot.

Assuming both the Cubs and Brewers win tonight

Cards 85-67

Cubs 83-69

Brewers 83-69

Nationals 83-68

Cubs go 7-3 over final 10

Cards go 5-5

Brewers go 7-3

Nationals go 7-4

All 4 finish 90-72

I want chaos

The pessimist in me has thought for weeks that we’re going to be 2 games up going into the St Louis series and get swept.

I could also see us winning tonight, taking 2 of the first 3 this weekend, lead late on Sunday only to blow the game.

Or the Cubs pass up the Cardinals but also get passed up by Milwaukee for the division.

I could live with that if the Nats got the other WC. I wouldn’t be happy with it but at least the Cards would be out.

Milwaukee is in a really good spot

Unless they moved the city recently, that's not true at all.

Definitely more worried about Milwaukee than St Louis. If we don’t win enough vs the Cards to pass them in the division, it’s highly unlikely we finish better than Milwaukee.

We’re currently a coin flip to make the playoffs according to fivethirtyeight.

Would like this if I wasn’t on my phone.

Some random 28 year old rookie with 10 PAs just hit a two run shot for the Brewers.

What’s that? It was a Padre who hit it? I didn’t know that was allowed against the Brewers.
