I know teams may keep varying levels of personnel on draft day... But lol

There's a contingent of fairly smart people who think Gruden is a secret genius who's just playing the dummy in some Columbo-like attempt to get the edge over other NFL teams.

I think the Occam's Razor explanation is that he's the dummy he's been advertising himself to be for the past ~15 years. He just happened to be in the right place and right time to take advantage of a couple desperate teams in the Amari Cooper and Antonio Brown deals.

The mock drafters probably have the ordering right: Hockenson had 760 receiving yards — 25.8 percent of Iowa’s team total, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information Group — while Fant gained 519 yards for a 17.6 percent share. Hockenson is the better blocker of the two TEs and also ran 340 routes to Fant’s 242. But it wasn’t just volume that drove Hock’s numbers: He was also slightly more efficient on a per route basis, gaining 2.24 yards per route run vs. 2.14 for Fant. Hockensen was deployed further downfield than Fant as well, earning an average depth of target of 9.2 yards — nearly half a yard better than Fant. And despite the deeper routes, Hockenson still managed a higher catch rate.1

I don't even give a horsefeathers we're losing both guys because we'll just churn out more awesome TEs, and we'll also never have a good enough QB to make a real difference anyway.

between this and the earlier stuff about the audibles, this new marriage appears to be going swimmingly from the start

As a Packer fan, I have to say that Aaron is 100% correct here. And he's taking the side of the players as opposed to management, so props to him. I have no idea if LaFleur is actually a good coach or not, or if he deserves public ribbing like this, but the whole "team unity" narrative is so unimportant to actually winning games. I'm always stunned at how much people care about this stuff.

Well, once you start thinking about average sportsball fans....

Sooooo this shitty league with it's shitty commissioner has decided that Golden Tate should be suspended for 4 games for taking a supplement given to him to help with conceiving a child, while Tyreek Hill will be playing week 1 despite being a shitty human being.

Maybe it's deserving that so much of its fanbase are shitty racist NASCAR people.

I love Golden Tate more than is remotely rational, but he had 2 kids the last couple of years, including one that was born like 2 months before he claimed he started this treatment. He's probably full of crap here.

I don't watch college football or really pay attention to it, so the highlights (lowlights) from preseason are my first real look at this guy... holy horsefeathers Kyler Murray is SMALL. The videos I watched don't even look real with how out of place he looks.
