Well the postseason is in full swing and there have been as expected a fire sale in Seattle where we could have had Jean Segura and Edwin Diaz both of whom were traded for nothing. A lot of prospects but the Cubs have major league tested and ready talent to trade in Kyle Schwarber Ian happ and Albert Almora all should go after we sign Bryce Harper. Signing Harper makes all the sense in the world. You think the guy is going to decline?I don't see it happening any time soon. So you give the guy a 12 year deal worth $400 . It's so worth it. The Cubs have an ATM in their office that prints money. They made over $3B in 2016. They're making like $500m a year. Pay Harper $30M and watch the Cubs dominate for at least the next 3 years until we have to sign Bryant and Rizzo.

Suckers. Shoulda sprung for the nacho cheese machine that makes nacho cheese.

Either way it doesn't matter . The Cubs have a license to print money. And they make at least $1/2B a year. Add in the tv rights when you own the signal and can sell to the highest bidder. To not sign Harper would be a generational mistake. . It's not too late . I think he likes Chicago and he kills the ball at Wrigley. It makes too much sense right?!!

He is saying 1/2 billion as in 500 million. I read it wrong at first too. It is still wrong but closer. I like that they made 3 billion in 2016!?!

This thread should be about nachos

Nachos (plural), Etymology 1:

Borrowed from Spanish nachos, from Nacho. Nacho is a common diminutive form of Ignacio in Spanish. The Mexican creator of the dish, Ignacio Anaya, named it after himself.

If they're making $500 million in profit per year, they're a Fortune 500 company and one of the most profitable companies in the US.

They would literally be THE most profitable Fortune 500 company. Not to mention the biggest bargain ever since the team was sold for ~$850m.

Why stop at Bryce Harper? Now that ewiggs has uncovered the fact that the Cubs are an international corporate behemoth, perhaps they can diversify and buy some other Chicago Fortune 500 companies. Is Abbott Labs for sale? Maybe ConAgra?

I think we are mixing revenue and profit here. The Cubs had a revenue of $434 million in 2016 and $457 million in 2017.

There is no we, I’m pretty sure only one person is mixing them

Forbes says that the Cubs brought in around $500m last year, so yes, a 100% profit margin would top the Fortunw 500.

Imagine being rich because of your dad’s business, then buying a business at a 1.25x EBITDA multiplier that still brings in 60% of what your dad’s company does.
