Week 10: Lions at Bears Sunday noon on Fox

The Bears are 6.5 point favorites against a division opponent which is shocking since they haven't beaten a divisional opponent since 2007. The Bears are also in first place and control their own playoff destiny. Although they have virtually no chance at a first round bye, they can avoid the top wild card team, Carolina if they maintain their current position. This is a pretty big game; not only is it a divisional matchup, but it's a preview of their Thanksgiving Day matchup in Detroit, 11 days later. A win here will make the Lions a longshot for the playoffs, as they go Bears/Panthers/Bears/Rams over their next four. Anyway, I hope the Bears smoke the Lions and start revving up for a potential divisional championship.

My little quirky facts that only I care about: It would be interesting if the Bears made the playoffs without a bye because it would be the first time they played on Wild Card weekend in 24 years (1994 was the last time). I'm assuming that has to be the longest streak in football.

 

Edit: 1994 is also the last time they've played a road playoff game (besides the neutral site Super Bowl XLI)

They went into Minnesota and beat the Vikings before getting destroyed by SF. If my memory is correct the 49ers were 17 point favorites.

Yep. I remember watching that SF game with my dad. On the 49ers first possession, they lost a fumble to the Bears, who then kicked a FG for a 3-0 lead. My dad gave me a high five and I thought they were going to win. By halftime I think I was playing Mortal Kombat.

i'm kinda lazily following this season but i'm mad at the schedulemakers for this whole 'play the Lions twice in like 15 days' thing

 

also dont the bears get the bye in the first 4 weeks like every year

yea, the schedule makers blow this year. and it isn't EVERY year they get the bye 4 weeks in, but it happens enough

Lions 3-5, wins against GB, Miami, New England.

 

Lions have only beat the teams the Bears have lost to. So if the Lions win, the only thing we can determine is that the Bears will have beaten themselves.

I'm not sure I really wanted him unless he was cheap. He does have some mileage and our DE's are pretty solid as is. If anything, I really want a new kicker.

it sucks that he missed that kick in Miami but i don't really see how parkey has been a big problem

 

he's 13/16... 5/7 from 40-49 and 1/2 from 50+ (28/28 on xp also)
