Trubisky was solid in the second half. Loved the defense today, especially without Mack. Not a particularly impressive win offensively but given the conditions not much to complain about. Coming down the field with the immediate answer after the Jets cut the lead to 17-10 was great to see. I was glad to see Howard get into the end zone because Nagy seems to have no idea how to use him/runs the most vanilla plays with him. I think he has more talent than what's being utilized.

Ive been saying all season long, either (find a way to) use Howard or (trade) him. he has value

Trade Howard and/or Floyd for second rounders? Not sure if you could get firsts for them, but they can be replaced fairly easily in the Bears offense and defense.

Keep Floyd. With the upheaval destined for our secondary, I’m not sure I want to shake up the D too much. Unless we could get Peterson

You're not getting 2nds for them. My honest guess is Howard gets you a 5th. Doubt Floyd even gets that. There were literally articles this past week saying we won't be able to justify picking up his option year.

Howard has more value then a 5th. But I wouldn’t be looking at trading Floyd for a draft pick, a DB looking for a change, however....

You always pick up the option year unless it's a Kevin White situation where he's shown nothing for 4 years. Should have picked up Fuller's option in hindsight. Floyd's good enough against the run and coverage, with still upside as a pass rusher to justify it (3-4 QB pressures yesterday, beast against the run).

Trubisky QB rating: 97.8

TD:INT ratio: 2.5:1

Both higher than Jay Cutler's best season.

Stats lie

Agreed. They don't even take into account the absolute weapon he's been running the ball on 3rd downs.

Of course you probably could put together 7 game stretch of Cutler's career that exceed that too. So while it's encouraging, consistency and longevity will be the key.

Are people that encouraged by how Mitch is playing? I’m lower on him now than I ever was. The inaccuracy is a big problem and is going to cost the Bears against any team with a pulse. The numbers I’m seeing are more a product of good scheming and coaching by Nagy than Mitch being good.

Nobody has ever or will ever care about your weird sports opinions. Probably not about anything else, but I only know the sports opinions.

Only week 8 and the game thread already down to just 3 pages? I thought Doctortrupinksy would have had these things jumping for longer than that.

I do think some of his success is due to good scheming by the coaching staff (but that shouldn't be a knock against him - do you think Mike Glennon is running as successful as an offense? Do you think Jared Goff is lighting it up in a John Fox offense?) and I do think he has some accuracy issues but I think a big part of that is footwork. You see his issues when he's hurried or scrambling. A concern but certainly fixable. He has also made some really really good throws and is starting to go through his progressions better which he wasn't doing earlier in the year (possibly because its a new offense). And then of course the ability to make plays with his feet doesnt make him a better passer but it makes him a better QB as long as he's not scrambling too soon.

I mean Alex Smith isn’t a bad NFL QB by any stretch but they made him look like a legit MVP candidate for a lot of last season. I guess we won’t know for sure until they need a back-up to go in there for extended time. I’m just not encouraged with Mitch, beating a good team with Mitch being the reason why they won might change things for me.

not to point out the obvious, but this post clearly demonstrates how detached the majority of nsbb'ers have been towards the NFL in general the last few years and how loosely you've paid attention to any of it.

but yea, DrDitkabisky to you...chuuuump

it was also Smith's 5th season under Andy Reid........
