I, for one, am mystified that an offense that regularly employed Jason Heyward, Albert Almora and David Bote would struggle to score runs.

Yeah, Bote sucks. Whatever; who cares. But man, the other two just really make me wonder what happened, and how did the Cubs get it SO wrong?

The completely fail to turn Heyward into the dongsmith everyone hoped he could be and wreck him for life...and then seemingly try to turn everyone into scrappy singles slappers? What the horsefeathers? Mallee and Davis (and, probably, Joe) are horsefeathering monsters.

Almora has always been a tweener between AAA-quality and MLB quality. That's just how draft picks go sometimes.

Heyward hurt his wrist and sometimes you hurt a key joint and you can never swing a bat the same again. Sorry, Kris.

The more I think about the game today, the more I realize that last night probably just saved us from being eliminated by the Brewers anyway. This team was not going far this year.

Heyward hurt his wrist in between the 2015 and 2016 seasons?

No but we’ll leave this one up for you.

They deserve to gloat a little bit but we almost have as many postseason appearances in the last 4 seasons as they do ever.

I hope they horsefeathering go down in flames. I know it is their social media person but it is still a reflection of their organization

So this was in Passan's article about the Cubs today:

Anyone want to guess who that was?

Someone in the dugout but not on the roster? Edwards? Freeman? Morrow?

This was my thought. Everyone that came to mind that was on the roster didn't make sense either based on what we know about them or by game situation.

Lester? He walked out when they pulled him.

I don’t mind the joke. I bet our social media person made some jokes at Pittsburgh and St Louis when we bounced them in 2015.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing him later in the game out with everyone, I could be mistaken though.

They also definitely made jokes about the dumb ploy to keep Cubs fans from buying tickets to Miller Park.

He also funked his shoulder up in Atlanta and his swing has never looked the same. The cardinals season was a flukish BA, a home run off arrieta and defensive efficiency he won’t approach anymore admit he ages. He’s a 2 WAR guy who might get to 3 with BABIP luck since he doesn’t strike out.

Would Jon Lester even know how to use an iPad? I know he tweets, but I just have always figured his wife does it for him.

I picture him with a flip phone or something.

Man, I counted on Theo to forecast all this horsefeathers much better.

So we'll have a matching set between him and Bryant. How adorable.

Yeah, I’m joking when I say that Bryant is definitely permanently broken. But anyone who thinks that isn’t on the list of possibilities is fooling themselves. Wrists and shoulders can wreck hitting careers.

If it was Jon, I am not sure it was him [expletive] on his teammates. If anything, I think he is really pissed from a competitive standpoint of not staying in the game.

I don't understand why Passan just doesn't say who it was.

That article as a whole was a lot of words of mostly garbage. He just did it for clicks. It’s the same type of doom boner season reflection article we’ve seen 3 of the last 4 years when they didn’t win the WS. We’re going to win 90+ and be a top NL team again next year but we’ll see articles like that saying otherwise all offseason. Also how does he know it wasn’t a hitter/pitcher looking at video of a hitter/pitcher on one of the ipads?

Exactly. Passan can be good but sometimes a hack.

Posted in the Maddon thread but it has been confirmed Joe is back next year for the final year on his deal.
