By this time next year I think we are going to be having some fun arguments about how to order the top 3 of Amaya, Hoerner and Roederer. Hopefully Adbert is graduated.

Other names I'm hoping can be part of that conversation (for good reasons)

Brennan Davis (stays healthy, performs with an aggressive assignment at SB)

Nelson Velazquez (improves contact while maintaining or growing power)

Aramis Ademan (bounces back in big way, makes it to Tenn as a 20 year old)

Brailyn Marquez (stays healthy for full year, perhaps gains another tick and refines offspeed)

Brendon Little (uh, does a lot better)

Unless he gets assigned to South bend, I don't think he'll be in the conversation for number one in the system until the following year. If someone outside of full season ball is #1, that probably means that a lot has gone wrong with the other guys.

Yes, it would take an aggressive and unlikely assignment. He doesn’t have to start at full season, just end there for a few months to be rated very highly considering his pedigree.

it was really just a joke about regular show bragging about calling things like a year later in the minor league forum. it was in jest

I don't think I bragged about anything in the minor league forum... I talked about Baez, but that wasn't in the minor league forum.

I do remember making fun of you for liking Jen-Ho Tseng and how he wouldn't amount to much.

Well, I won't be "bragging" about some claim or prediction (even when I'm right) I made anymore. I'm afraid of someone wanting to choke me out and/or accuse me of tooting my own in horn in a sexually explicit way.

Not worth the trouble.

PS -- I'm going to be totally right about Nico next year lol.

you had said something one time about "i was talking up player X it in a minor league thread a year ago. look it up". then mojo or someone said "no thanks". Anyway, again, it was just a lighthearted joke. and yes, you have picked on poor jen-ho before and once again he's my avatar because i had his minor league pic as my avatar before because he was wearing his hat funny af on top of his head and then he graduated to the big leagues and so it was in order.

and i hope you are right. because i share your opinion. well, it's probably neck and neck with amaya but gun to my head i'd probably lean nico

Okay well, Player X is David Bote and I wasn't bragging or boasting when talking about him. I was defending Bote because someone earlier said "He's probably nothing" after he came up. He has real trade value and is definitely something. I said posters here (including me) noticed him last year and think he's a legit prospect.

Of course, I don't actually expect someone to go back and look it up lol. I have no idea when we started talking about him/started noticing him. Trent Giambrone might be Bote v2.0 and if he comes up and plays well next year then we can say we knew about him as well. I said what I said because some people think Bote is some kind of non-prospect scrub (he isn't). He could be a starting 2B for some teams.

Get your facts straight man.

Cubs: Nico Hoerner, SS (CHC No. 6)

The Cubs' first-round pick (24th overall) in June, Hoerner is the top 2018 Draft pick playing in Arizona. Though he played just 14 games in his pro debut before straining ligaments in his left elbow while diving for a ball, that was long enough to show why scouts considered him one of the best offensive-minded middle infielders available. Hoerner has exceptional hand-eye coordination, an advanced approach and developing power.

Cubs: Justin Steele, LHP (Cubs No. 8)

Steele was just starting to come into his own when he blew out his elbow in August 2017, but he returned to the mound earlier than expected (11 months later) after Tommy John surgery. He can run his fastball up to 97 mph, also can dodge bats with his curveball and has made encouraging progress with his control and command.

Nico ended up going 0/4 with 3 Ks. He's on the taxi squad so he gets to sit on that performance till the weekend.

No other Cubs played tonight.

send Chili to teach him how to roll over and hit a weak ground ball.

The rust for Nico isn't surprising. That was a really shitty outing for Steele though.
