Good thing Murphy is here to bat at the top of the lineup tonight with a LHP on the mound, against whom he's hit .250/.288/.333 this season.

That SLG% will fit right in

The first day of this month, the Cardinals were 7.5 back. Now they are 2.5 back. Extrapolate that however you wish.

 

If the Cubs could even just dong as much a the piddling WHITE SOX, then they wouldn't even have to care much at all about these idiots or the Brewers at this point

Since August 1, the Cardinals have gone 16-4. So sure, if you want to extrapolate that out and say the Cardinals will play .800 ball the rest of the year, it'll be tough for us to get the 97 wins we would need to win the division.

 

We'd have to go 26-12, by the way, which is entirely possible. But it absolutely won't be necessary.

Yeah this is likely at the end of our bad run and the cardinals good run. I still have scars from 2004 though when the Astros played like .900 ball the last month of the season and never eased up while we plodded along and finished several games back.

I think eventually not having KB in the lineup was going to start showing up. I think that time has come the last week or so.

 

I also think the Cubs have a chance to be good again when a semi-healthy KB is back and with the addition of Murphy. I think without them we suck.

 

This is what I think.
