did I miss the day it came out that Clevenger runs a puppy mill or something

Clevenger’s tweets read:

“Black people beating whites when a thug got shot holding a gun by a black officer haha (expletive) cracks me up! Keep kneeling for the anthem!

“BLM (Black Lives Matter) is pathetic again! Obama you are pathetic once again! Everyone should be locked behind bars like animals!”

OK, one more Brewersfan fun quote:

If I liked gambling, I'd bet pretty good money on the Brewers having a better record than the Cubs over the next 7 years or so.

They have this mass blind spot where they can see the bad contracts and the farm system ranking but can't see the giant mass of young position players already on the MLB roster better than anything they have.

I got bored. Presenting my "I Could Never Root for These Guys" All-Star Team: (more emphasis on "I could never root for these guys" than on "All-Star")

C - Steve Clevenger

1B - Adam LaRoche

2B - Daniel Murphy

3B - Jung Ho Kang

SS - Jose Reyes

LF - Ryan Braun

CF - Colby Rasmus

RF - Yasiel Puig

SP - Trevor Bauer

CL - Aroldis Chapman or Roberto Osuna or Jeurys Familia or Matt Bush

there are at least 4 more Cardinals players I'd like on this roster

I thought about that too, but I decided they have to be able to play. And so many of their guys end up dead.

We’ve got like 6 2nd baseman now. I don’t get it

It’s a good thing all those 2B options other than Murphy (I’m not including Tommy because I think he’s basically a PH only now) can all play 2 to 4 other positions at above average to good levels defensively.

did puig do or say something awful or is it just about him being how he is and playing for the dodgers?

i've actually been a fan but i don't recall any off field stuff

Just general immaturity. Bar brawls, reckless driving, fighting with fans and teammates, etc...

Admittedly, it was one of the harder spots to find somebody I really hated. Unlike RP, which... wow.

He did get investigated for a night club fight under the domestic violence policy: https://deadspin.com/report-mlb-investigating-yasiel-puig-under-new-domesti-1744954552

I think it went away like the Starlin stuff did though.

I've never been less excited about the Cubs getting a better than average position player. Hopefully, someone in the media will ask him about his views and if they've changed.

It’s quite something. They also think just because they have a bunch of “prospects” in the 75-150 range they are set up for a run soon, when none of those guys are really ranked or regarded all that highly to be impact players like they need. Hiura is their best prospect and he has a bad elbow and is Murphy like defensively and is putting up Almora like numbers in AA.

This is great:

Classic Theo, pedal to the floor at all times...until you've used up all the resources. Then leave and move on to the next big market team in a favorable situation.

I must have missed this "favorable situation" that the Cubs found themselves in back in 2011.

Because they're good versatile players?

Is Murphy? I thought he was 2b only

Plays 1B too. But all of our other SS/2B play all over the field.

Other than Murphy everyone else can play like 4 positions and Murphy could play some 1B and maybe even 3B here and there (his arm is LaStella bad but Tommy gets time there once in a while).

Javier Baez, Brett Jackson *and* Matt Szczur were all top-100 prospects.

People are thinking Russell DL but it could be Seal Boy gets the phantom Rodney Dangerfield injury from caddy shack and they rest Russell a bit more before the deadline.

I’d prefer that. Russell can still play defense. Just limit the ABs for a while to see if it helps his finger. He can come in, in the 5-6th+ innings when we have a lead. Tommy doesn’t provide much of anything.

Just wanted to read Brett's take, and Bleacher nation comments are a dumpster fire. All out culture war.

Honestly, that's why I put in the (nearly) zero tolerance policy from the beginning. Given how things have evolved since 2004, I'm glad that we took that approach.

Also, while I don’t agree with Daniel Murphy’s thoughts at all, I think a vast majority of meathead athletes feel the same way. Doesn’t make it right, but if all the homophobic baseball players were kicked out of the league, there would probably be 5 teams left.

Sucks, but true.

Also The Red Sox won the World Series 2 years after he left with pretty much all his guys, and the team this year is probably still a lot of Theo guys as well
