Much like our drunken manager is trying to find meaning in art this year I feel like this picture is analogous with the season. Legend states that you see one of two color schemes in this picture of a dress and not the other, you are neither right nor wrong with what you see.

This year there are those of us who think everything is mostly fine with the Cubs, since they have the best record in the NL, and lead (or nearly lead) the MLB and NL in many statistical categories. While there have been pitfalls of the starting pitching sucking we think it will mostly be fine and are betting on track record and some other trends and maybe some blind faith.

On the other side there are those of us who think this team sucks and it's unimaginable this sucky bunch of sucks has sucked it's way to a division lead and best record in the NL while everyone outside of Javy, especially the pitchers, sucks and is irreparably broken for eternity.

In summation we are where we are and have done what we've done, let's get on a heater and rattle off a bunch of wins in a row to go on a win streak and finish this season off right!

So Cubswin11 - you're definitely gonna need a strong outing. We've got the bottom of the "game threads" rotation coming up, and, much like the Cubs' rotation, it's not looking pretty.

For the season, these bottom-dwellers have a W-L record of 9-13. Take away SSR (5-2), and that's a pretty atrocious record of 4-11 before we circle back to the top. Maybe a few of those guys should spend some time working things out in the "Minor Leagues" forum doing a few game threads there.

Anything to right the ship, right?

Heyward has a .695 OPS since July 1st. Why does he keep hitting 3rd and 4th?

According to BR he's had an OBP of .352 or much better over the last 28 days, and a BA of .272 or better. If Drinky Joe is going for some kind of second leadoff guy or whatever since the 2018 Cubs have obliterated the idea of a "normal" 3-4 setup, I guess it makes sense.

I have no faith in the starting pitching holding the Nats down, and I'm not sure what the offense will do on a daily basis so it's hard for me to know whether we will out-slug them. Sorry, Chili, out-hit them.

I am not a fan of this series, but hopefully, I will be a fan of this series by its conclusion. Even a win today would make the series not disastrous from a win-loss prescriptive.

Also, Addison Russell sucks. The only thing to watch this weekend from him is whether he can get below .360 in the slugging department.

makes sense since I would have thought 43 was old 24 years ago
