It's ok to not be satisfied with a 4 game split at home against a team that came into the series 2-16 in their last 18 games, then you consider the fact that we were outscored by 7 runs in the series and just overall didn't pitch or hit particularly well. I would think its fair to say its bad, but at the same time doesn't really tell us a whole lot about the teams in general because like you said its just 4 random games that happened to be played poorly.

i dunno man, i mean my thinking is the offense is fine, so if we play a team with bad pitching and the bats go cold it's whatever. But our pitching is bad, so if we play a home series against the worst offense in baseball and can't even manage a series win *because* of how bad the pitching is it's just not good. It's not "baseball baseballing," it's an indictment of our achilles heel.

why are you acting like i was trying to ascribe some profound meaning to the series? i'm always the one saying that caring about individual series results are pointless. i said the series sucked because we're in the last 2 months of a close division race and treading water in what figure to be the easiest games was a bummer. i know that they could easily sweep arizona or something to make up for it (and that's how things happen over the course of a full season), but it's pretty obvious to see how people could be annoyed with those particular 4 games. look through the thread. everyone was salty about it. it's okay.
