I get why robot umps will never work but at least let them have an earpiece where they are told if it's a k or ball

I think they could work just fine. Just have them back there to call plays at the plate.

They use a computerized system for out/in calls in tennis, they can do it with the strike zone.

The ear piece would never work, though, because the a-hole umps would ignore it and call what they wanted

Huh? How would they not get in trouble for that?

They probably would, but I know I saw a video where they tried it out in a minor league (or maybe independent league) game and the umps hated it. They also talked about how they got a DVD every week breaking down their bad calls and that every ump just threw them in the garbage without watching them

Why on earth would automated balls/strikes not work?

Think of the catcher and stealing bases.. If the catcher doesn't need to be in a crouch the run game is gone

Catchers would still have to crouch. They still need to be able to give a low target to the pitcher.

Why.......why wouldn't he need to be in a crouch to catch a strike zone that is centered around a catcher in a crouch?
