That didn't last long

The Tigers announced today that they have fired pitching coach Chris Bosio. Per a club announcement, the decision was due to “insensitive comments. Further explanation was not given in the statement.

It is not entirely apparent at this time precisely what led to the termination. But it seems the issue involves not-yet-publicized, “insensitive comments” made by Bosio to a team employee, GM Al Avila tells reporters including MLB.com’s Jason Beck (Twitter link).

Bosio was in his first year with the organization after spending five seasons in the same role with the Cubs. The 55-year-old pitched in the majors for eleven years, from 1986 through 1996.

Bosio, you should know better. You got fired for saying dumb horsefeathers here.

How about he BE better, not know better than to get caught again

Sure, but it's really hard to get old people to genuinely change and be better people. Just look at our current horsefeathering president.

“I don’t know that you learn anything (from this) other than how severe a consequence can be,” Wilson said. “We all know what’s right and what’s wrong. We all understand the nature of this business and the world we live in, and some things are unacceptable. From what we were told, it crossed those lines, and it is what it is. I don’t know the exact context of what was said, I just know that it crossed a barrier that is unforgivable.”

You know this is a lie because there’s no way any baseball person bothers to call Daniel Stumpf anything more creative than "Stumpy."

Detroit Tigers pitcher Daniel Stumpf has told the Detroit Free Press that he has no knowledge of the nickname "spider monkey," which fired pitching coach Chris Bosio said he called him and was fired for when it was taken out of context, according to Bosio.

"Spider Monkey is not a nickname I have been called or I'm familiar with," Stumpf told the Free Press.

Good for him. I think even before I read your other post, I would have expected him to continue, "obviously, they call me Stumpy"

Rosenthal gets the whole story, although not much unexpected in there

The money part is that four different anonymous sources say Bosio's 'spider monkey' story is BS.

and given the situation, it is heavily implied that members of the coaching staff were either sources, or provided direct feedback to higher ups that led to decision

bosio swore on his parents’ graves that he wasn’t lying about the spider monkey thing, does this mean we can break the graves down and exploit their valuable natural resources

The whole "spider monkey" lie gets funnier and funnier the more I think about it. Just picturing this oaf flop-sweating as he desperately tries to come up with the dumbest excuse possible. "Come on, spider monkeys are totally known for the weird faces they make! IT'S A COMMON THING."

The lie falls apart when one knows that 99.9% of baseball nicknames are just the player's name with a "-y" added on the end. Baseball managers/coaches aren't particularly clever about these things

you know bosio was quoting from wikipedia when he pitched this excuse to the team

"no no no you got it all wrong i was calling a white guy spider monkey because he looks like a *looks at scribbled notes written on palm* New World monkey belonging to the genus Ateles, part of the subfamily Atelinae, family Atelidae. Like other atelines, they are found in tropical forests of Central and South America, from southern Mexico to Brazil. The genus contains seven species, all of which are under threat; the black-headed spider monkey and brown spider monkey are critically endangered."
