My guess is the Cubs’ bats break out on Sunday only to be silenced again in LA. They’ll win one in LA but not the Lester start. Probably Hendricks or Q game with BP being lights out.

Then at least they can limp home and get good against bad teams. Isn’t that the theme lately?

Wondering if going against good pitching might help the offense.

The Cubs are mostly a good team, but they're too often the better team by simple default as opposed to being truly awesome.

Wait, that doesn't make a [expletive] shred of sense. NEVERMIND.

Feel like this is an extension of your RD theory, but not really sure.

Did you know? Entering Sunday, we have scored three or fewer runs in exactly half our games this season. That 50 percent mark is quite high for us during our good years.

ETA: However, a team like the Nationals also have scored three or fewer the same number of times, and have only played a few more games. Maybe their offense sucks this year and I haven't been paying attention, but at least it's not crazy or something.

unfortunately, you're making a lot of sense. it feels like they've been getting the least out of their talent for a while.

Yeah, the 97-win average of the past three years, the 92-win pace this year, the two consecutive division titles, the 3 straight NLCS appearances, and the World Series championship really make me feel this way too.

Just stating facts. I think it's odd people hate the best Cubs' teams of their lifetimes.

Bottom line? Duker is right 93 percent of the time, and it's even a better rate when he predicts the most important stuff, i.e. where our team will finish at the end of the season etc. Right now, I trust Duker even more than I trust the Cubs.

Also a fact: this team was a massively not fun suckfest in the first half last year. By the end, the NLCS run was awesome, and as a whole, the year was a success. But to pretend that on a day-to-day basis the team was fun to watch is revisionist history.

And despite the good overall record/pace right now, the team is not fun to watch as often as it is a blast to watch

There was a especially dumb caller on WLW's postgame show (Reds Radio station) on the way back from the game talking about how "nobody wants to play the Reds now!" and how the Cubs suck, "they've only won one World Series in 108 years, let me know when they've won TWO IN A ROW LIKE THE BIG RED MACHINE... I don't think they'll ever be able to do it!"

Hopefully we drop about 30 runs on the Reds

Yeah, that's how baseball goes. Even the best teams lose like 70 games and only win 90. There's almost always going to be a near equal amount of fun and not fun, if we are just looking at wins and losses. They've definitely had some stinkers. But I've enjoyed watching them both of the last two years.
