Russell really missed some balls to crush there

The best thing about him being so young is that we have so many years ahead of us watching him do that.

Has Rizzo walked in the last 3 weeks? He’s become Heyward. Good job chili.
Funny how you were one of the guys who said not to blame struggles on Mallee but you're pounding the Chili blame drum every game. Rizzo is his own worst enemy right now. He refuses to swing at outside pitches and has like 2 quadrants he's looking for pitches in. Pitchers know this and get ahead in the count with low and away pitches he just stares at instead of hammering oppo. He gets into non-favorable counts constantly. He's had an abysmal approach at the plate. You say Chili is pressing our guys to become oppo singles hitters and Rizzo is most definitely not trying to do that at all.

Once again, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Rizzo's BB% is incredibly fluky. His First-pitch strike % is 58%. Career average? 58%. He's swinging at 66% of pitches in the zone. Career average? 66%. He's even being more discerning than usual, swinging at 26% of pitches out of the zone, which is well lower than it's ever been.

And it has nothing to do with him taking pitches on the outside. From 2015 through 2017, he swung at 65.5% of pitches on the outer third. This year, he's swung at 71.8%.

You don't have to create some dumb narrative for everything. Sometimes guys just struggle. He's changed nothing about his approach. He's the same guy. He's just hitting it like horsefeathers.

Ok I submit. I don't know how to find details like that (swing% at outer third) and I went partially by what I've seen with my own 2 eyes, which is a cardinal sin in baseball viewing. I do see a guy (by the numbers) who's pulling more balls than ever and is not taking what the pitching is giving. I'd like to see him sit on some outside pitches and smash them into the gap.

I don't see how a 4% walk rate after 30 games can be fluky but I have noticed that his oswing is lower than ever.

I admit I'm wrong again but I don't believe Chili is the culprit and I stand by that comment being ridiculous.

I really don't care who the culprit is. I think it's just something weird going on with him. He's seeing more pitches in the zone -- probably because he's hitting .085. But the BB% is still really fluky. It's not like he's up there hacking away like Javy.

Regardless, I don't think he's looking for zones in any quadrants more than he's ever been or that pitchers know how to attack him or anything like that. He just horsefeathering sucks right now. It doesn't have to be more than that.

Despite the iffy play at times this year, the Cubs still have the 5th best RD in baseball and 2nd best in the NL behind the Braves

Huh. Never knew Vic didn't speak English.

He must speak some English seeing as he didn't need any of the questions translated. Probably just wasn't interested in doing an interview on live TV in his second language, especially as a rookie.

Could you tell me which site and where to find stats like that?

I don’t actually think Chili is the problem. I have questions about why he’s a viable MLB hitting coach but he doesn’t have the power to make guys suck 30 games into a season. There were fire chili Davis but jobs on twitter in like the 5th game of th season. I’ll let you know when I’m being tongue in cheek from now on.
