Both Dantonio and Izzo should be fired with severe sanctions from the NCAA for the entire program.

Both are guilty of enabling and therefore promoting and encouraging a culture of rape and violence towards women.

Both likely won't be fired, though.

For the university and athletic program to perpetually cover these crimes up for a decade, there isn't a punishment severe enough.

If Penn State still functions a highly productive football program despite a multi-decade culture of raping children, I can only expect to be underwhelmed by any punishment handed down to MSU.

Yes, thought at this point, I don't even see Michigan State getting anything close to what punishment Penn State DID receive

Considering it was a 2 year punishment and a 60 mil fine for covering up horsefeathering children, defending the severity of Penn State is not the correct answer.

The only lasting effect is the removal of the main enabler of child rape's statue.

What, what? Who is defending anything? I'm talking about the public/media/NCAA reaction to the MSU situation

Dr. Larry Nassar had a prominent position within MSU atheletics and he was also in charge of trainers for US gymnastics and used his position to sexually assault girls at both.

A bunch of people at MSU seem to have had knowledge of the situation but tried to cover it up. He got sentenced in the past couple of days to life in prison.

Given the severity of what transpired at Happy Valley and how minimal the punishment, it takes either blind bias or huge balls to use their punishment as some sort of barometer for being tough (even used in just comparison to MSU rather than taken at face value).

We're talking about the NCAA here, though, which uses some combination of a dart board and Magic 8 Ball to choose its punishments. NCAA set the bar, not me

Collegiate sports is dirty beyond belief with slave labor. So in return for no pay, they receive room and board, freedom from police, and tuition. If Emmert knew about sexual assaults there and did nothing, he needs to be fired.

Man this horsefeathers is just so fucked. I'm still pretty young and I guess I've just been delusional about how rampant this sort of culture really is.

In my head it's like "I can't even begin to fathom how you could be so cruel to another person, and i know I would never do it and I'm pretty confident none of my friends would". That kind of thinking had led to a hopeful, optimistic impression of the world in which sexual predators and vile humans were few and far between.

But all of this horsefeathers just keeps breaking over and over and over to the point that it's exhausting to keep up. The fact that so many can do these despicable things is downright horrifying, but the ones who cover it up or let it slide. Those in on the cover-up have a special place in hell. It makes me sick thinking about what the victims must feel. I don't know how any of the cover-up crew can look at themselves in the mirror, let alone look any of the victims in the eye.

The fact that the NCAA is letting MSU Head their own investigation instead of saying “horsefeathers you, we got this” from day one tells you all you need to know about the awfulness of Emeritt

Would it be wrong of me to say that I was wondering why it was "Tim for the death penalty" when I've had nothing to do with Michigan State?

I misread that at first.

Is that guilt stemming from your conservative values (as in YES TIM IS FOR THE DEATH PENALTY) or guilt (as in TIM NEEDS TO BE SENTENCED TO DEATH)?

who'd you kill?
