No on Norvell to Ark. Something has come up in his background that has scared away every school.

Luke is getting named permanent HC at Ole Miss according to many on Twitter. If true, that does not speak well to the sanctions coming IMO.

No it does not. There's no other explanation for such a terrible hire.

Not very often there's such a narrow gap at the top of the polls. Clemson, OU and Wisconsin all got at least 10 first place votes in both polls (Auburn got 4 in the coaches poll). In the AP, 73 points separate 1st from 3rd and 104 from 1st to 4th. In the Coaches, only 31 separate 1st from 3rd and 83 separate 1st from 4th.

Pleasure is all mine. I'd be doing this anyway so just glad to have a place to pretend that time spent is productive.

Wild day of coaching moves (and non moves, what the heck is going on in Knoxville). Lots of smoke surrounding a Jimbo to A&M move but no reports yet.

If Tennessee is going to allow an AD to hire a head coach without knowing where that head coach has previously coached, well good luck finding anybody good for that job.

To be clear, I’m not defending Schiano in any way.

You're correct on this. People in the CFB media who know a lot more about the scandal than any of us do, and with no real reason to go out of their way to do it, were very clear yesterday that there's no evidence Schiano had the slightest bit of knowledge about anything. General educated opinion is that UT fans were using a crazy-tenuous link with Penn State to justify being angry they didn't get a bigger name.

Also, people on the UT Twitter mob's side on this are squarely on the side of Clay Travis, so that should be considered.

you're incredibly wrong andy.

People were citing paterno/sandusky apologists while blindly defending the guy simply because the knee jerk reaction of nearly all football media is to praise each and every veteran coach that has ever existed. There is no evidence that Schiano is a good guy, and yet people were blindly supporting him not even knowing about his ties to the Penn State child rape scandal. Others have also pointed out some other shitty stuff that Schiano has done outside the covering up of child rape.

At the end of the day, Greg Schiano is a blah coach with some ugly stuff on his resume and does not deserve the blind devotion some morons chose to give him.

If Schiano being an assistant at PSU during the time Sandusky was committing his crimes is enough for you, that's a perfectly reasonable objection to hiring him. His actual connection (that we know of) is based on hearsay, and his involvement wasn't enough to interest the Attorney General and investigators of the Sandusky case.

If Peyton Manning suddenly announced his interest in the UT job, the moral high-grounders would magically forget about his sexual assault charges, there's no doubt about it. This isn't about Vol fans holding some sort of moral authority, it's about them (in part) being pissed that Jon Gruden shunned them

The idea that Gruden was ever going to be their head coach is crap-your-pants laugh out loud funny.

The dude makes like 8 million a year to call 16 football games or whatever. What fool would give that up to go babysit 85 college football players and spend half the year traveling around sitting in people's living rooms?
