#40 needs to be done, also the 3-2-1 point system

 

I know we've already inflated the points system, but I really don't want to completely lose touch with what point totals have generally meant, i.e. 100 points is a good season.

 

Most of these ideas are flat-out awful (and the author probably knows it, he's just hot-taking).

 

The only ones I would consider are:

 

Non-conference matchups limited to 1

 

Get rid of the trapezoid

 

Hand passes everywhere

 

 

 

The one about kicking goals in is especially stupid. Someone will lose a goddamned hand in the crease.

Changing the DOG penalty is a good idea. Getting rid of the salary cap would be interesting. Does the cap really create parity? Not really. Poorly run franchises can have whatever advantages they want, they still aren't winning the cup because they suck at recognizing and developing talent. These same teams don't spend to the cap anyway. Also, in a league where nearly half the teams make the playoffs there will always be some measure of parity.

Hockey's not a "playoffs are coin flips" sport. It's not quite the NBA in those terms, but it's a lot closer to that than it is to baseball.

I might be a Golden Knights fan now. Give Vegas a franchise in every sport, please.

 

I want to like them, but I'm bitter about William Karlsson going from "just a guy" 3rd or 4th line player for Columbus to Alex Ovechkin 2.0 for Las Vegas.

It's the release that kills me. The speed with which he goes backhand-to-forehand and flicks his wrists, while still getting that much on the shot, was Javy-esque.

 

I don't care what it costs, the Jackets need to sign him long term. Between Panarin, Jones and Werenski, the Jackets have three of the best young players in the league

58-30 in shots and they lose again. how does washington keep doing this? i can't even imagine experiencing something like this as a fan for so many years in a row.

Looks like the Penguins should cruise to a 3rd straight Cup. Washington probably will lose to the Jackets. Boston is the only team that can stop them. The West? Vegas, Nashville, or Winnipeg? Nah

where is this coming from? tampa, nashville, and maybe winnipeg are all better than the penguins
