Rondon hasn’t given up a earned run in 10 appearances and just one walk in that span. Even L/R splits while Wilson has a 9+ ERA with the Cubs against lefties. Wilson has some good numbers against Murphy, but that’s when Wilson was good. Joe isn’t going to put Wilson in a situation that’s critical against the Murphy or Harper anyway.

holy horsefeathers, did you just disappear for a year then drop back in with ... optimism?

Just lurking. I have the Nats in five though.

No Koji either.

It's been hinted that he's likely out for the rest of the season due to injury.

He had an infection in his knee didn't he?

Yeah, and had some sort of setback about a few weeks ago.

Rondon has been good but he's still behind Davis, Strop, Carl, Monty and even Wilson and Duensing (for matchups at least) so it would hard to see a situation where he'd really be the best option/needed since all those guys can essentially pitch every game this series. Martin lets Joe be a little more liberal with pinch hitting, double switches, optimal defense, etc. too which likely has a larger effect on tipping outcomes in our favor than having Rondon pitch.

if it turns out Jake is good to go, they could add Rondon back in for the NLCS, right?

Yes, you get the opportunity to pick a 25 man roster each round. Last year they took out a position player for another reliever for the NLCS, probably because of the 5 to 7 game series shift.

If Arrieta proves he’s healthy I could see Lackey being left off. It will probably be Martin or LaStella for Rondon though.

They added the eighth reliever for last year's NLCS, but they didn't use him. I wouldn't be surprised if they stay 14/11 should they reach the NLCS this year.

Dusty put 4 lefty relievers on the Nats roster, which is pretty smart considering 4 of the 5 games will likely be started by RHP and the Cubs will probably load the lineup with lefties in those games and then have to replace them later in the game. The thing is though that the Cubs have plenty of quality righties on the bench to replace those LHB with, not to mention Happ and Zobrist are switch hitters

I'm really sick of hearing how deep Cleveland's bench is. Seriously, this Cubs team is deep, and most of the guys have been regulars at some point in the season due to injury. This team is great.

It wouldn't be Seal Boy.
