Tonight we officially watch the St. Louis Cardinals fall out of contention for the NL Central Race. Unfortunately the Brewers are off so we cannot clinch the division, but it seems inevitable that that will happen during this series too.

A win guarantees baseball beyond Sunday. Obviously it's inevitable at his point but nice to officially get that out of the way.

I hope we clinch after a win and not because Milwaukee loses or whatever. I want to celebrate on their field.

Although I also expect a ton of empty seats and Cubs fans for the entire series.

I was thinking about that. If the Cubs win today, tomorrow's Brewers game starts at 6:40 and the Cubs at 7:15 so that would suck if the Brewers lost before we could win. But if we split the next 2 games and the Brewers win tomorrow, the Cubs game on Wednesday starts before the Brewers game.

Why not just win tonight and tomorrow and celebrate? Doesn't matter what the Brewers do then.

Well that's what they'd do, and no one would really care that the Brewers lost 20 minutes earlier and officially clinched it for the Cubs.

Even though they start ~30 min earlier it’s not a guarantee they finish first. Especially with potentially shitty pitching on both sides, could take longer to get done. Counsell is still gonna manage like a playoff game and the Reds pitching sucks so there could be a lot of runs and pitching changes.

Damn straight. Last year I believe they clinched because of a loss and held off officially celebrating until the next day when Miggy walked it off.

Too bad Milwaukee isn't playing tonight.

They are going to celebrate after the game on the field either way and presumably destroy the clubhouse in the process.

We are underdogs tonight and for the first 3 games of this series. That seems really silly and stupid. Oh well, sweep these horsefeathers.

Weaver is really tough on lefties which is probably why Schwarbs is out. That said, I'm not sure why Almora isn't one of the outfielders.

Gotta get that sick, sick Zobrist bat in the lineup, bro.

Hopefully this inspires him to hit TWO home runs tonight, otherwise, horsefeathers him and horsefeathers Drinky Joe.

Win turds.

But alas Luke Weaver pitching like the ghost of Chris Carpenter and the support of the greatest baseball fans in the galaxy will be too much to overcome. Might as well just sit back and enjoy some gourmet toasted ravioli.
