I put together a quick calculator that focuses on how many wins each team might get from remaining series: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YtIEXZBZ-Sx_w8chE745mhb3ehzTwOapxR3y82nrdak/edit?usp=sharing

The yellow cells are editable so you can put in your greatest hopes/fears.

If the Cubs split the next 3 series and win 2 of 3 v. CIN, Milwaukee needs to win out(aside from the Cubs split) to tie for the division.

Woah you can embed Google sheets on NSBB now?

You might want to lock the spreadsheet,

Cubs get swept by TB and Cincinnati, only win 1 of 4 against the Cardinals, but manage 3 of 4 against the Brewers, while the Brewers sweep Pittsburgh and take 2 of 3 from Cincinnati and the Cardinals and the best the Brewers can do is tie in that scenario.

I wish someone could calculate our probability to win the division for each result of the Brewers series. Has to be like 99.5% if we take 3 of 4, 93% if we split, 70% if we take 1 of 4 and 55% if we get swept.

That's probably roughly it with the odds of a split, 1 of 4 and sweep moving a bit depending on the next two games outcomes for both teams. If the Brewers were to lose the next 2 in Pittsburgh, not even factoring in what we do those odds probably bump up at least 5% across the board with a sweep or 3/4 clinching the division 100%. Right now they have Garza listed as pitching Wednesday but I think they are doing another bullpen game, would be nice (at the least) to have them burn out some of their options there for at least Thursday's and/or Friday's games (Hader and Jeffres specifically).

KB was at Disneyworld all day yesterday, so I guess we should have known he was due for one of his hangover/dehydration days.

In case anyone is actually worried, Cubs twitter account doesn't seem concerned:

what i wanna know is how we're looking as far as leaving st louis's visiting locker room reeking of champagne

Clinching in St. Louis is looking very likely, imo, if we can win 3-4 of the next 6 games vs TB and Milwaukee this week.

Miraculously some Rays fans were unearthed and they asked them how they felt about Joe

Papa Joe's abandonment

Joe Maddon is like that father that left his poor family for a nicer rich one. He got the kids as they were older and didn't have to go through the struggle of raising them, and through the hard times but gets all the credit. Meanwhile he keeps saying how much he still loves the older family and wants to help but the family he left starts to fall deeper into poverty.

That one probably took the top honors for absurdity

Not my favorite time for Joe to pull a day off after day off with our best player. Especially with our 6th starter going.

We are in a good position but stretch run where we can't afford to be aggressive with resting people.

One off day against the bum ass Rays is hardly being "aggressive with resting people."

And way to slag on Montgomery like he's Lackey or something.

Please don't make me defend Lackey in a post.

Bryant hasn't had a game day off since 8/23, and lefties fare much better against Archer so that mitigates the impact.

Would be really nice to clinch the division and eliminate them from the playoffs in St Louis. Of course, rolling the Brewers and celebrating in Mileaukee would be nice also.

Mainly I want them to clinch the division with a win so we get a celebration on the field.

Win turds.

But alas it's Chris Archer and he'll pitch lights out like a Cubs prospect of once upon a dream. And the Brewers are trying to start being vaunted again
