that's the second time he jumped back on a called strike in that AB

sweet

caratini would've done better

And it was a slider that was breaking towards him and ended up over the middle of the plate. Did he think it was going to break 4 feet? It's not a lefty pitching where you think the ball is coming at you and breaks over the plate.

honestly would've sent heyward

i get stopping him but i'd rather gamble and force them to make the play

Was saying the same thing to my buddy but I still haven't seen an angle that shows where he was when the ball was on it's way in

NOW BUNTING LMAO.

worst game Joe has managed easily.

what was so laughably bad about bunting there?

seems marginal at best

Down 2, extreme strikeout pitcher on the mound. I know Javy is a good hunter, but I'd rather see him try to just hit one out there.

none of this post makes any sense to me

what in the world

Extreme strikeout pitcher on the mound and extreme strikeout hitter. You know how that ends and you'd be bitching about the strikeout also.

I can't wait for the Cubs to be back again after they beat up Homer Bailey tomorrow

The Cubs are average team, barely good enough to win the terrible NL Central. They're nothing more than that and a quick 3 or 4 game out in the NLDS. Hopefully they're ready to be good again next year.

Maybe, but I'm implying that after the bunt where you give away the first out, there's a strong likelihood one of the next two guys are going to strike out, and down 2 I'm not sure you can afford to just give up the out.

I was cool with Javy bunting. Iglesias has bad lefty splits and Zobrist is better hitting from the left side and nearly tied it there. Jay and Avila need to come through.

I don't think they were the Bad Cubs tonight. They had a lot working against them: Castillo and the back of Reds' pen being good, Justin Wilson being a bad pitcher, baseball being an incredibly stupid sport, their own manager.

They had chances and fought those last two innings. They might be chocking dogs. But I don't think they were the Broken Cubs.

They scored 1 run against the Reds. Castillo was good but the Cubs should be a good enough offense to put up more than 1 run against the Reds. But they're not a good offense this season. Way more bad games than good.

Interesting that you didn't have anything to say when they were winning by 10 last night.

If you've followed the 2017 Cubs, you knew that 15 run performance was going to be followed up by a 0-2 run performance. They're an inconsistent, average team.

Good call. I'll talk to you again after the next loss, whenever that will be.

We are going to lose games, even to sucky teams, the rest of the way. We are still back and/or fixed Edited by Cubswin11

I mean, seriously, have you in fact watched baseball before in your life?

The Cubs are 5th in baseball in position player WAR this season. They're 8th in wOBA for the season (2nd in wOBA in the second half).

Do you think last year's team never scored 1 or 0 runs against bad pitchers or something? Do you think the Dodgers haven't this year? Have you actually watched a baseball game in your entire life? Because if you have, how is it possible that you have these thoughts?

Agreed. There are specific things about the Broken Cubs that I'm not seeing. Specifically, the starting pitching. That was the biggest problem with the Broken Cubs. Also, the offense was largely shitty, too. But, there were specific things there, too, like making a bunch of soft, shitty contact. They've hit the piss out of the ball in the second-half. The offense simply hasn't been a problem since the break. You'll have some nights where that's not the case, like tonight.

If you want to harp on RISP, fine. But they got guys on base and gave themselves chances.

This was a case of them just losing a game in which they saw the only good pitchers that some shitty team has to offer. They'll be back to donging the hell out of these crappy teams starting tomorrow.

Also, that was a pretty fun game of baseball -- as was that back-and-forth loss against the Diamondbacks a couple weeks ago. Those have been the two most frustrating losses for me since the break. But at least they were fun to watch. There was nothing fun about the Broken Cubs. The Broken Cubs were sloppy, sad, and boring. I haven't been bored by this team in a while.
