Huh, I seriously thought we had like an 8 ERA

Just looked it up, the Cubs is 6.73 before today's game. That's crazy I would have guessed higher but I guess they've gone 8 straight games without allowing a 1st inning run so it's gone down

After the [expletive] way the first half went in the first inning, not giving up another first inning run would probably make us slightly worse than average.

grb bitching about how the cubs got a bunch of flares that inning

apparently they didn't watch yesterday's game

or literally any game that the Cardinals have ever played in their lifetime.

A few thoughts.....

- Happy for all of us, but happiest for David. He was frustrated and annoyed today and showed some raw message board emotion, but he never stopped watching even though he questioned why he hadn't shut the TV off.

- Every so often when it gets late in a game your mind simulates the outcome already. Mine had already chalked this up as a loss, and it's always amazing when this happens. It makes the win even more exciting.

- Right after KB's hit and as the game-tying run was scoring, I jumped up and instead of yelling an expletive "hell yeah" I instead started singing Zobrist's "Benny" walk up music. Absolutely should delete this part but it's true.

- I'm simply shocked at the emotions and nerves I feel for a July baseball game. I had always told myself that if the Cubs ever won a World Series, those nerves could never again be there. Damn, for me, I was wrong. Yet, it's a welcome emotion.

Sometimes in a tight game I will stop watching and let the board tell me what happened. When I refreshed with Molina up and there was at least one new post, I knew the next thing I read was going to be really good or really bad.

It was Duke saying to fly the W.

Today was a good day.

tbh though i have never had a problem with freaking out in game threads

it's when people get all meatbally and start saying our good players (or our good team - although deserved for a while this year) are bad and stuff that i hate

*A Cardinal hits a homer*

"Welp, the Pirates are winning the division this year."

I believe Bryant would've been safe even if Yadi catches that particular throw. Even though KB's right leg went over the plate, his bent left leg still touches plate before Yadi applies the ball-less tag. Cubs win!

When's the last time KB had a hit that high on the leverage index?

This is just a question because of the randomness of baseball, not because you think KB isn't "clutch" or some [expletive], right?

Man the BFIB are all over fowler. His defense has looked bad from what little I've seen of him this year.

Definitely Dexter's fault that a GM offered a billion dollars to a thirty-something CF with a history of being a poor defender, even when he wasn't old.

Remember when KB tied a playoff game on the road in SF with a 9th inning 2-run HR? So un-clutch.

it should improve as he continues into his late 30s

Just felt like it had been quite a while

Or when he hit that homer in game 5 in that World Series thing they played in last year?

Pretty sure he had a game tying hit against Milwaukee with 1 out in the 9th earlier this season (the game Addy hit a walk off 3 run HR)

Ohh, you'd think he'd remember a game against the vaunted Brewers.

When you have to resort to citing 2016, it had been a while No matter how much you guys want to believe it hadn't. You cannot dispute that it had been a while since KB had a hit in a high leverage situation. This does not mean that he's not clutch.

The Brewers citation was from this very year.
