No Burks in the Top 10? Really?

I've seen the 4th OF tag applied to him a couple times but I have him in the back of the top 10 for sure.

future 4th OF would probably qualify as top 10 in one of the worst systems in baseball.

Where do you guys think Tseng fits in? He has looked pretty good this year and has pitched well (so far) as a 22 year old in AAA.

Probably around the the 20 range for me. His lack of any impact potential keeps him down, but he does have to be given credit for being close to the bigs and performing well as an age appropriate SP. He's a slightly better Casey Coleman for me.

... and Longenhagen of Fangraphs chimes in on Cub prospects in today's chat ..

DJ Wilson has been on a tear since returning from the DL, and has at least looked solid since a horrible April. Small-ish sample still, but is he putting the baseball skills together to get the most out of the athleticism? Possible top 5 org guy by season's end, if he remains in the system?

Eric A Longenhagen

Possible top 5, yes. Top 4 for me are fairly stable (Candy, De la Cruz, ALbertos, Alzolay) and then there's a mix of Aramis Ademan, Paredes, the arms they just drafted, Wilson, Hatch.

MLB Pipeline updated their Cubs Top 30 and it's somethin

http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=chc

This is their new Top 10:

1. Candelario
2. de la Cruz
3. Albertos
4. Alzolay
5. Lange
6. Little
7. Caratini
8. Hatch
9. Zagunis
10. Paredes

The farther I scrolled down, the more I was expecting the last few spots to be blank filled with like "29. Future 1st Round Draft Pick or IFA signing"

It honestly might as well be. I'm sure Mayo or whoever put the list together just gave up trying after about 18 and threw names out there. This list will no doubt be vastly different in a few weeks/months.

Jeimer Candelario actually came in at 93 on MLB's top 100 list. Crazy.

It kind of gives me hope for a major move honestly....MLB looks at him like that, Law looks at Alzolay as a top 60ish type.....If a team we're trying to deal with thinks that way, we can really still get something fun.

So according to the MLB Pipeline top 30, Oscar de la Cruz has a pectoral strain.

Well that's about as good as you could hope for, if true. I had just written him off as needing TJS.

I really can't see a pitcher with his injury history being #1 in the system. But I keep seeing him there now. That has to be a simple case of ranking inertia that gets corrected in the offseason, right?

Any love (or even like) for Mekkes?

Mekkes gets love here all the time. But he's not going to get prospect hype until he's repeated his stats at least at the AA level. Relievers who don't throw upper 90's just don't get ranked until they've proven it at the highest levels unless they were 1st round picks.

I think so. Given the number of innings he's lost, his chances of starting have to be diminishing greatly.
