Albert Almora is bad in a way that a Jim Hendry guy would be bad. He swings at everything, grounds out, and sucks.

except he was drafted by Epstein.

And Hendry got us Baez and Contreras.

i hate the thread title because people who come to nsbb for the first time are just going to see the title alone and think that we at some point thought almora was insanely good

Though, seriously; would it kill Heyward and Almora for them to both be just...fine at the same time for once instead of one temporarily kicking ass and the other being catastrophically bad?

That is annoying. If Albert can just maintain a league-average bat he will be plenty valuable. His defensive metrics are looking really good. 3 wins is certainly plausible.

Heyward is 4 for his last 11 with 3 walks, so I'm hoping he's coming out of his slump.

The Confidence Conundrum: How Albert Almora Jr. turned his season around

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/confidence-conundrum-how-albert-almora-jr-turned-his-season-around-kris-bryant-axe-bat-cubs-hitting-mechanics

Over the first 21 games of 2019, Albert Almora Jr. was hitting just .182 with a .432 OPS and 0 extra-base hits in 61 PA.

But since a PH HR off Kenley Jansen on April 25, he's hitting .341 with a .966 OPS and 12 extra-base hits in 87 plate appearances.

He's hit into a few unlucky hard outs in that span too. He certainly doesn't look hopelessly lost like he has in the past.

There's also been a reduced leg kick so I don't know why they would say it was nothing mechanical.
