I haven't attended any memorable cubs games, but I did attend Game 7 of the 2001 World Series between the Yankees and Diamondbacks.

I got tickets early on in the series when they opened up Game 7 thinking that I would sell them and try to make money (I was a sophomore in college at the time) and seeing that Game 1 tickets were going for crazy prices on the secondary market. It didn't seem like it was going to even come, but then those crazy Yankee comebacks made it happen. When the day got there, there was no way I wasn't going to go.

Oddly enough, I have had three separate times where strangers in public said "hey, you were at game 7," because of a crowd shot used a couple of times in the championship video and the HBO documentary Nine Innings from Ground Zero.

May 23rd 2004, Cubs vs. Cards. I don't really remember much about the game, but it was one of the best days of my life.

I was attending an academic conference and my major professor (who carries a picture of Ernie Banks in his wallet) and I went to the Goose Island Brew Pub to check to make sure that they were set up for a reunion we were having the next night. We sat down at the bar and had a beer. We heard two guys next to us talking about a bus trip Goose Island had for the game. We asked the bar tender and he told us that all the tickets were sold but we could hang out to see if there were any no-shows. About 3 beers later they did have two tickets for us. For $50 a piece we got to go to a private room with an all you can eat all you can drink bar before the game. We did some damage there. Then we got on the bus and had seats in the RF bleachers right in front of Sammy. Great game, Aramas or Sammy homered and the Cubs won. Then after the game they bussed us back and we had more beer.

We stumbled back to the hotel and took showers then went with a group of Japanese folks to the Chicago Firehouse restaurant.

I can't find any record of this online, but some time before 2010, the Cubs had 10 consecutive hits in wrigley. They announced over the pa that it tied a major league record.

In 2010 the Rockies broke that record with 11.

can you narrow down the range beyond "before 2010?"

I was at the game where Bill Mueller destroyed his knee.

My brother was at Kerry Wood's 20k game.

so was everybody, amirite?

jk, but yeah i was at school. i remember coming home and having my dad flip on the tv for literally the final pitch.

I watched all of this game after school (K wood 20 K). And, for some inexplicable reason my dad taped it for me too. Like, the whole game, not when he started dominating. So I have a VHS of it now (just need to find a VCR. Derwood?)

I've seen a half dozen games of nondescript Cubs teams in Atlanta but only seen one Cubs game at Wrigley.

I saw Doug Dascenzo pitch in a blowout Cubs loss against the Andy Van Slyke and Bobby Bonilla led pirates. Snuck down to maybe ten rows back after everyone bailed on the game. I was probably seven and I think the Cubs lost like 16-4 or something along those lines.

I had a baby in my arms... my daughters were born in 2004 and 2007.

So, after April 2004. My memory is old beyond its years.

Edit: found it!

June 11, 2004. Nine consecutive hits vs. Cardinals. It was really shaping up to be an amazing year.

I rarely get to see the Cubs apart from once a year in Coors field, so these two are the ones that stand out:

Sosa hit 3 3-run HRs in back to back to back innings, and then Dusty killed all the fun by pulling him from the game for no reason at all: http://a.espncdn.com/mlb/news/2002/0810/1416636.html

And Fowler pwning Hawkins a few years ago (strange that Pat is more excited here than in the entire playoff run last year): [bbvideo=560,315]http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/11493214/v71531283/must-c-clutch-fowler-hits-goahead-homer-in-the-9th[/bbvideo]

Also, I brought a friend to a game who knew nothing about baseball. Late in the game someone hit a meaningless HR. My friend didn't know how to handle the roar of the crowd, so he threw his seat cushion onto the field. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/fans-toss-cushions-on-to-field-1.393725 Also of note, Prior went yard (oppo) in that game, his first HR, and I totally called it just before he hit it.

2004. Astros v. Braves playoff game in Turner Field.

May as well have been a Cubs game because I was sitting with many thousands of dejected looking people wearing Cubs gear.

I saw Glenallen Hill hit the scoreboard at colors while on my honeymoon in may of 2000.

I was there for the Jeff Gordon "Wrigley Stadium" debacle.

Didn't you go to the Harden debut game where Theriot threw the ball into the OF in the 9th?

I'd say that counts enough to be memorable, if so.

Man, this thread is telling me that I've been to a ton of regular-ass, forgettable Cubs games, apparently.

Besides Game 3 of the WS, which sucked butt.

hahaha, that might be the worst cubs game of my lifetime. what was the atmosphere like for that?

really?

i was pretty drunk watching most of it at a bar, but at least there was a chance to walk it off at the end.

game 4 was way worse IMO. when you're on the verge of falling behind 3-1, you cant just brush it off even if it is a blowout. it was sad as horsefeathers.

I was at the first game Fred McGriff played after he finally accepted the trade after a month or however long.

Game 4 of the 2016 NLDS is by far the most memorable. It was miserable for 8 innings but that comeback in the ninth was and will always be insane. First team to come from 3 runs down and score 4 in the ninth to win.

Second most memorable was a Rizzo walkoff dong in the 13th against the Marlins in 2014. Rondon gives up 3 in the ninth to lose the lead before Rizzo hits a two-run shot in the 13th.

First Cubs game at Wrigley as an adult would be up there also, even though they lost. I went to one game on a baseball stadium tour when I was 11 but I didn't appreciate it as much as an adult. They did win the next day so I at least got to see one W.

The other memorable game I went to was the game Prior gat hit on the elbow. My girlfriend and I were sitting in the bleachers and you could hear the smack. Wrigley was deathly silent for a good 15 seconds afterwords.

Oh yeah! I left work early pretending to be sick so I could go AND I got laid because of the win! Good day.

I could have sworn I went to one at Wrigley where Soriano hit 3 HR, but apparently he only ever did that on the road. He definitely hit 2, and then must have had a deep double or something, but it was pretty great. I know I was pretty damn drunk.

I also went to a game here in DC when Soriano was on the Nats and all of the Nats players were at different gates at RFK to greet fans; Sori was at the one my dad I came in, and the crowd wasn't big at all at that point, so we went right up to him, shook his hand, and my dad was all, "you'd look great in Cub blue next year" and Soriano chuckled heartily.

YOU'RE WELCOME.

David says I'm nuts, but I thought the atmosphere was a HUGE disappointment. Epitome of a terrified Chicago sports crowd. It reminded me of when I managed to get tickets to the Bears/Packers NFC Championship game; everyone seemed way too tense and nervous even before it started and nobody ever relaxed. Yeah, I know the Cubs didn't really do much to get people pumped, but horsefeathers, IT WAS THE FIRST WORLD SERIES GAME AT WRIGLEY IN 71 YEARS. I was expecting/hoping for an insane crowd losing their mind over everything before the game started. I thought the announcing of the roster was going to be pandemonium. Maybe I was just setting myself up for disappointment, but the whole thing seemed weirdly relatively subdued.
