that is the least surprising news I have seen in many years

This has been expected for years but I have always been open to it just because of his Patriot ties plus it seems like Kirk has changed some philosophies since Brian came here to coach and it wouldn't be surprising for him to feel confident speaking up.

still doesn't compete with Yo'Majesty Sanders (committed to Jax St.) and Kobe Buffalomeat (committed to Ill. St.)

also, Bama couldn't fit a top-100 4* recruit into their class so he took a grayshirt, so that's nice for them

I can't believe that kid didn't have any other options. It shouldn't take much critical thinking to deduce that if Bama doesn't give enough of a crap to hold a spot for you, you're never ever ever going to play there.

It's ok, though, no one will give a rat's ass that Saban screwed over yet another kid in October when he's in the title hunt again.

Wonder how much longer it'll be before 4-stars are walking on at Bama. How ridiculous. Yo kid, delay your college education for six months (kid isn't enrolling til spring 2018 semester), and then come ride the pine and maybe you'll get a scholarship at some point in a year or two.

wonder if this is how Saban has now had his 7th straight no.1 signing class. The cars of current Alabama players:

p.s. One of Saban's best friends, Mark Emmert, is the President of the NCAA. Must be nice.

I think I have read somewhere that it isn't against NCAA rules to give a car "loan" to a student with a very minimal monthly payment with a huge balloon payment at the end.

Student athletes driving nice vehicles is rather common in power programs

Also forfeiting 7.8 million. sucks. Total impermissible benefits that were alleged to have been given out by boosters was $18,600. We'd have been better off covering up multiple gang rapes and paying off the victims.

Whatever, you cheat and get caught. It is what it is. Accept whatever penalties and move on.

Beyond Ole Miss, this does have the potential to really cause some issues within college football and the NCAA. Almost all of the information received in this NOA came from "immunity interviews", which is a brand new tactic used by NCAA investigators. Basically it just grants immunity against anything they admit to the NCAA (and they also don't ask the obvious question: "so you don't turned down this much money from school A but went to school B for free?").

Most of the NOA centers around Mississippi State linebacker Leo Lewis. Unfortunately for Ole Miss, the NCAA does not operate like a court of law. If it did, Lewis would have no credibility as a witness. There's an audio recording that Ole Miss possesses of Lewis' mother on the phone with one our coaches saying that LSU offered Leo X and MSU offered Leo Y and would Ole Miss match that offer. Following him signing with Mississippi State, Lewis foolishly put this on snapchat:

So the point is, regarding the overall college football landscape, we may be entering a Brave New World and I'm pretty sure most coaches don't like the precedent being set where players from rival schools are given immunity to basically rat on their rivals.

It is interesting to note that nothing in this is about Tunsil. Kinda figured there'd be something in there due to that draft night fiasco.

So, what type of penalties are you expecting? USC level?

Lack of Institutional Control and 13 Level One infractions is serious business.

2 year bowl ban plus scholarships. Freeze suspension. I doubt he gets a show cause since he isn't really named in any of this.

Also, if it's USC level, that would be vindictive. The USC stuff involved impermissible benefits of over $300,000 IIRC. In total, after a four year investigation, they've got around $20,000 on Ole Miss.

But it is what it is.
