Yeah, that's kind of my point. Pace tried to field an 8 or 9 win team while building for more and failed miserably.

And remember, his resume is built on pro scouting (free agency), not college scouting and drafts.

horsefeathers, you're talking me into wanting him gone now.

I mean, drafting hasn't exactly been a weak point so far.

One very good draft and one ehh one before he got his own guys on staff.

Which is weird considering his strength was supposed to be FA

Moon Mullin is a guy who presents himself as this wise elder statesman in every TV appearance but the guy very rarely actually has anything to say. Below is just a bizarrely pointless section of over explaining the Bears shitty QB situation.

Whether the public likes Pace’s moves at quarterback, or whether they’re good, bad or anywhere in between is just offseason speculation for now. The NFL will start giving him meaningful feedback sometime this September. What Pace has in fact done, regardless of analyses at this point, like it or not, is create options for himself and his coaches. And those extend beyond 2017.

Some context here: Even with some measure of job security in the short term, Pace is tasked with winning in the future as well as the present. He has addressed the 2017 quarterback situation, if not spectacularly, with Glennon and Sanchez specifically. But think beyond ’17; because Pace is.

More context: GM’s and head coaches like and need options. Doubts about Glennon, Sanchez, Connor Shaw or some rookie notwithstanding, Pace has the Bears positioned with options, not necessarily good options, but arguably best-available for the most part.

A little more context: Dowell Loggains may not have quelled all doubts about his play calling, but Cutler, Hoyer and Matt Barkley all had their best NFL stretches, albeit short, under his stewardship.

I thought bare ass didn't need censorship in the U.S.

So stupid that this is a thing.

Maybe I'm missing something, but, you think it is stupid that a celebrity posting a bare ass photo of her NFL QB husband is "a thing"?

In what world would this not be a thing?

Spectacularly, the sun rose in the east, if not the same as any other day.

if you can't figure out why a bare ass picture would be NSFW you can't be familiar with the concept of employment.

Just because you can get away with showing Sipowicz's ass in primetime doesn't mean most places of business want that on computer screens.

Here's a list of visits the Bears have had to this point. Extremely interesting group, considering they usually draft multiple guys from who they've visited with.....

QB- Trubisky, Mahomes, Kizer, Kaaya, Peterman, Antonio Pipkin

RB- I'tavius Mathers, Elijah McGuire, Jamaal Williams

WR- Mike Williams, Austin Carr, Carlos Henderson

TE- Howard, Evan Engram

DL- Garrett, Allen, Chris Wormley, Ryan Glasgow

LB- Foster

CB- Ezra Robinson

S- John Johnson, Nate Gerry

What can we take from this? Not a lot, yet. Since they still have another 7 visits to go(or that are unreported). But, we can see a few things obviously......

They're taking a QB. But this list tells me its not at 3. A trade down from 3 and I'd say its possible. Or literally ANYWHERE after that. Pipkin may be a 7th round type or UDFA even. Kaaya or Peterman are 3rd round types, at best.

Meeting with Howard and Williams is VERY interesting, because it shows they're looking at trading down. Maybe even outside the top 10? Seeing the meeting with Engram too.....Makes me think a TE on day 1 or 2 seems like a decent bet.

The 3 RB's are all late round types or UDFA's. I'm GUESSING we'll have a few more CB meetings? Robinson is a late rounder and most things seem to indicate we're looking at one earlier than that.

Safety? The lack of meetings with Adams or Hooker seems important to me. Same with Solomon Thomas, for that matter. But, they can still happen, I guess. At any rate, Johnson seems like a late 2nd day or early 3rd day guy. Gerry isn't on that level.

No OT's? Seems like an indicator to me. Not happy about that personally.

I really feel like he's gonna move back and possibly multiple times in the 1st. This is a deep draft and Pace acknowledged it.

“We’ll have an elite group of names that we’re confident will be there,” he said. “Three names, yeah. But beyond that, OK, there’s some pretty good depth in this draft, too, so are there scenarios – and it’s easier said than done – where we can trade back. Those things will be discussed.”

Pace wouldn’t commit to drafting a passer at all.

“We’re going to draft the best players available, wherever that may be,” he said. “And if it’s a quarterback, it’s a quarterback.”

The time to stockpile is now. Next year has a nice crop of QB. IMO more future picks he can obtain the better so we have some ammo going into that draft and possibly moved up if need be.

I mean he could probably drop back a couple times and still get a guy like Allen around the 10 and get loads of high round picks to go with it.

Not even meeting with Hooker or Adams is really more reason for me to believe he would prefer not to pick at 3. The list has none of the concensus top 5 picks.

Eh. All of this likely means nothing. I have a spreadsheet of players the Bears have "met" with over the last several years. In 2016, they met with Hackenberg, Prescott, Hogan, Kessler, Lynch, Cook, Brissett, and Brandon Allen and obviously didn't pick any QB. 2015, they met with all the top pass rushers (Fowler, Beasley, Gregory, Ray, Harold, Dupree) and went WR in the 1st. They did meet with Floyd and Whitehair last year of the guys they drafted, but also had meetings on 3 separate occasions with Shaq Lawson and then traded up for a guy that plays the same position.

Side note, I'm starting to think OJ Howard helps this team more than any other offensive player in this draft (other than hitting on the top QB). His run blocking is amazing. He's a potentially elite pass catcher. If you want to grind it out with Jordan Howard and give Glennon some protection and a nice safety valve, OJ Howard's the best man for the job. Wouldn't take him at #3 overall, but trade down and he's definitely got to be in the conversation.
