I know he got paid, but I still feel so bad he's in that horsefeathers.

Eh, after those dirty slides this year I don't feel bad at all for him. He took the most money, he knew their whole deal/culture there and made his own bed and had been a dirtbag to some of our guys so far this season.

Was there more than one? If so, I'm forgetting. The one at the beginning of the year didn't bother me much. And its going to take a hell of a lot more than that, for me to forget how great Dex was for us. He'll be one of my favorite Cub players forever.

Yep. That Game 7 lead off homer was a pretty huge moment. That alone puts him on a list of guys I'd have a real hard time having any ill will toward.

when his BIP fortune inevitably reverts to normal Matheny's going to feel like some kind of supergenius tactician

The true visionaries are able to get 200 PAs of sub-.300 OBP from a guy in the lead-off spot, while wasting the same guy's .400 OBP over his next 200 PAs in the 8-spot.

Dex's demeanor should be emulated throughout the league. I'd take him back in a heartbeat and forgive his silly transgression.

Remember when Dexter struggled in the first half of 2015 but Maddon didn't relegate him to the bottom of the lineup? The Cubs were rewarded when Fowler hit much better in the second half of 2015 and in 2016.
