I really hope the Cubs crowd, both the real crowd and the Internet variety, don't go all "trader" on him BFIB style. The man deserves to get paid, it just so happens to be the Cardinals that will be paying him.

I'll have no problem remembering him as the guy who back pedaled after hitting the lead off homer in game 7.

He better get a huge ovation next year.

I wouldn't worry about that. Everyone is still happy after the world series and if they follow baseball rumors on twitter, I think they can tell the Cubs didn't try very hard to bring him back.

My brother lives in St. Louis and said they are reporting this on sports talk stations all over in just the last half hour. No mention of signing or contract numbers, but having him in for a physical seems like it's headed that way.

Happy for him, but wish he'd taken the Toronto offer that was being reported earlier in the week. He'll get a standing ovation at Wrigley, no doubt, then we beat the horsefeathers out of them. I hope it's 5/80, that could tie up some of their funds for a bit.

Eh never underestimate the silliness of the underbelly of the cubs fanbase. I saw a bunch going crazy on some NY writer for pointing out that the Yankees got Gleyber for basically free. You know there's going to be at least a few knuckleheads who lose their horsefeathers.

Although of course by and large most will understand and he'll certainly get a big ovation when he comes back to Wrigley.

Seems some Cardinal forums are questioning the veracity of this, but it's been retweeted by Cardinal beat writer Bernie Miklasz who is a trustworthy source. He wouldn't attach his name to it unless it has some truth. Who knows, maybe he gets there and the negotiations break down and he signs elsewhere.

Hopefully this is when our next level thinking FO comes in over the top ropes on a deal getting him so much cheaper than the Cardinals thought they were signing him for only to crush their souls even more Edited by Cubswin11

This makes me feel better. Good for Dex.

Now just give him a nice ring ceremony before the game when the Cardinals come.

Nope, not really at all. Kind of expected it.

Plus Dex is going to be 31. I'd bet 2016 stands has his career best. I hope they sign him to a nice, long, expensive deal.
