SITTING ON A CORNFLAKE

I remember asking my mom what that meant when I was like 10 and her having to tip toe around the fact that John wrote that in a haze of acid

The story I’ve heard is that Lennon was annoyed that Bob Dylan wrote some popular songs that had nonsensical lyrics, so this was him writing the most random song possible

Yeah, I'll be genuinely stunned if he doesn't end up on the Phillies or DC with some horsefeathers ass deal the Cubs should be able to afford in their sleep.

I'm fine with owners not signing off on stupid 9 figure extensions on 30+ year olds on the downside of their careers. But to lump Harper and Machado in with the Evan Longoria's of the world as a reason to not pay people is absurd. Owners suck

I hold out hope for this scenario - internally between Theo & Ricketts they have a broad contract structure for Harper that they are comfortable with. There is reports from real media people that the Cubs have asked to be kept in the loop when final offers are coming in. If their number is competitive they jump in, if not they move on. They put out the not a lot of financial flexibility/ like the team as is narrative so that if it doesn't happen they don't look like they lost on their plan to the fans and the team.

I really, really just want Philly to not get Harper or Machado after they were so sure they would get one or both and they were so sure they were going to get Lebron.

If the Cubs do jump in and make a play for Harper, then I DO think there is a case for collusion.
