Paging We Got The Whole 9. Paging...

It's your time to shine, bud.

I'm not that type of guy. I probably shouldn't have posted about him in 3 different threads - especially don't want to annoy a forum that's new to me, that I love reading and think there are several great posters I enjoy - but I just like the idea of adding that power lefty. It's not a matter of LOOGYs and getting lefties out, there aren't many hitters, period, who don't struggle with 95-97 from the LH side. So I think a guy like him, or Diekman, or the like, would add another dimension to the pen. Plus he has 3 years of control and if he comes as cheap as you guys suggested, that's a no-brainer to me. That's a guy who improves the pen IMO.

But I'm not gonna come here with 'told ya so' type of crap posts.

Honestly our FO turns over every stone anyway so if there is a name I'd like them to target, the probability is extremely high that they already have kicked the tires. I trust they will patch any weakness that remains.

I'm still skeptical that we could get him for Szczur+, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Rub it in!

Rub it in!

Rub it in!

Right?!? Some people can't leave well enough alone. ;)

If only no code chimes in right about now on how we're getting Jansen because his 2nd cousin- sister in law- husband's father is neighbors with Jansen's uncle and told his cousin that Jansen is seriously considering the Cubs.

I was just looking at this site: http://www.rosterresource.com/mlb-chicago-cubs/

First off, it's worth bookmarking because it has a lot of great info.

Second, it hit me that if everyone is full strength, our fifth best reliever might be Strop and sixth is Grimm.

I'm trying to do this off the top of my head...

Davis, Edwards, Rondon, ??? (Uehara?)

Yeah, if everyone is healthy, then it's really a toss up for 3-5 between Edwards, Strop and Uehara.

Any chance we get Russell or Hendricks extended like the Phillies just did Herrera (5/30)?

Herrera is 24, 2 years service time, 4 war each year. Seems like a great deal.

Pretty sure Boras is Russell's agent so probably not him.

That already happened for us. His name is Rizzo. Don't get greedy.

A member of another forum is saying the Cubs have signed Ross and that it will be announced this week. FWIW, this is not a member known to spout BS rumors.

is this ABTY or whatever the hell?

or marlin?

No, AB is gone. Marlin is still around (corroborated the Davis trade rumors). It's a different dude.

Also I guess Levine tweeted that the Cubs gave Ross the tour and all that good stuff.

Surprised nobody is talking about the Ross thing at all

the really old one or the one who's missing an arm?

the latter (actually more accurately i believe he is missing a rib now)

I believe these came out after the PSD poster claiming to know that he is signing with the Cubs

A 2013-2015 version of Ross on the Cubs would make a big difference. However,

1) It's not a sure thing that he'll even ever pitch at the major league level again

2) It is very uncertain how good he'll be if/when he makes it back

3) Things are still just at the rumor stage

All that said...that would make for one hell of a rotation if he came back at full strength.

Even a semblance of that would be nice.

If we sign him I'll go all MetsRefugee Matt Harvey comeback excited and set my expectations for him the same as they have for their rotation injury comebackpalooza to spice things up around here.
