I wonder if it sucks for Fowler sitting there knowing he likely doesn't get to be a part of this anymore.

 

Probably not as much as us fans think/wish/imagine.

It will probably come down to how much he prioritizes getting the most money. I doubt the Cubs completely lowball him (like a 1 or 2 year deal) so if he's willing to accept one less year and a couple mil less per year, there's a decent chance he'll be back.

It will probably come down to how much he prioritizes getting the most money. I doubt the Cubs completely lowball him (like a 1 or 2 year deal) so if he's willing to accept one less year and a couple mil less per year, there's a decent chance he'll be back.

 

With this year's weak FA class it seems likely someone else is going to offer 4 years/15-20 per. Great for him if he gets it he seems like a great guy with a nice family. At least the Cubs will get draft pick compensation since they have extended the qualifying offer.

Kris and Grandpa Rossy on Ellen. Ellen's gift to Ross is great.

 

Not normally a big fan of Ellen but their appearance was better than Fallon. I especially liked the woman at the end who was the Cub fan who won tickets to the WS and told the story about having to live in her parents basement with her husband and kid while they saved money for a new home. Her utter excitment when she saw Bryant and Ross walk out on stage was hilarious and it was a nice gesture for Ellen to give her 10 grand to help her out. Plus she was cute as hell which helped.

Watching Schwarber with A-Rod (and Kelly...) makes me realize A: how much I love Schwarber because he's so eloquent about the struggles he had during rehab. His story was inspiring. B: A-Rod is a superstar in the making on TV. Damn, he's AWESOME.

Ben Zobrist was supposed to be in Eureka today for a big parade, and then a Peoria Rivermen game tonight, but had to cancel due to illness.

 

Ben Zobrist is set to appear at Soldier Field for the Bears game tomorrow.
