How can they be smiling? They must not have read the game thread yet.

They're already mentally in the offseason, probably going to hit the beach tomorrow afternoon.

I don't understand getting so pissy about stealing signs (real or imagined), if the guy at 2nd base can figure out your signs and relay it to the batter you're not doing your job good enough.

Even before I saw Zobrist's reaction I thought Grandal sounded just a wee bit crazy. There's a nebulous advantage to stealing signs anyway(some hitters don't want them, could guess wrong in the process of stealing them, etc), and Grandal is going on about rotating through 5 different sets of signs like they're nuclear launch codes.

Yeah I think this guy is just a paranoid wierdo, from a longer article on the matter

Between Clayton Kershaw’s two starts in the National League division series, catcher Yasmani Grandal trudged out to the mound nearly a dozen times. It appeared the two were having trouble communicating.

Not so, Grandal maintained. They were merely taking every possible precaution to prevent Washington’s baserunners at second from stealing their signs. The two men again formed a battery Sunday for Game 2 of the NLCS and hardly required midfield conventions at Wrigley Field. Grandal said that was because no one reached second base. Only one Chicago Cub got halfway home throughout the Dodgers’ 1-0 victory.

He's got all the makings of a future Cardinal.

Just heard on MLB network that javys warning track out was a ball that produced a .900 average during the season on similar bip (104 exit velocity at a 24 degree launch angle) and that kersh thought it was a double. horsefeathers.

They're clearly stealing signs, that's why they're so paranoid.

Connecting the dots from the things I've read, I think the Dodgers will have Urias ready to go tomorrow as a piggyback to Hill, in case he can't get out of the 4th again. Obviously, they'd reasonably prefer for Hill to give them 6, but realistically he may only give them 4. I think they'd then try to go 3 with Urias and then turn it over to the pen. That would mean a bullpen game in Game 4, with I assume Stripling getting the start, hoping to get 3+ out of him. LA really can't afford to have Hill, Urias, and Maeda all pitch 3 1/3 on consecutive days, so the best approach for them is to piggy back 2 of them when they can to save the bullpen, have a bullpen heavy game in the other, and then hope to use the Kershaw start in Game 5 (who are we kidding, he's pitching it) to give most of the bullpen rest. Maeda could be on extra rest in Game 6 and then Hill on regular rest, Game 7 with Kershaw available out of the pen.
