The Chicago Cubs are the 2016 NL Central Division Champions

Anti-climactic and as forgone a conclusion as it may have been, I figured this was a thread worth making. We don't get many of these, but I have a feeling that'll be changing very soon. Let's enjoy this for a few weeks before the playoffs, whatever they might bring, which will no doubt be amazingly awesome. This team exhibited absurd levels of dominance for the vast majority of this season. Five run wins are and were routine. This is the best Cubs team anybody alive has ever seen. I just wish it didn't have to end.

It always sucks when it ends, unless it ends in the good way. And if that happens, I'll... I don't know, but it will be amazing. But this team is so fun and has given us so many great moments, and there are more to come. I can't wait for the post-season. I know it is a crap shoot, but I doubt I'll ever feel more confident going into the playoffs. Let's go!

I honestly never thought I'd see a team that won with more ease than the 08 team and this one makes it look almost amateurish. I mean, the 15 team was on their level. For a long time I thought that 08 team was everything.

It's easy to take it for granted when you are just living in the moment. And then the dark days of 2011 sneak up on you fast and slap you in the face. The good part about this squad is that with all the young talent, we're set up like we've never been before. We'll get our money's worth. Just get the World Series part out of the way this year, please, I beg you.

The last couple of week are really going to feel like late September, bad team baseball in terms of me caring. But I really want to them to get to 100, and maybe something like get 20 games better than the Cardinals.

 

Plus, a whole lot of nervous as heck baseball is approaching so I may as well enjoy the relaxation of meaning less games for a bit longer.

Now that I'm over the fact that they didn't clinch when I was there I realize that if the Cubs get to where they want to go, no one will give 2 shits about a proper NL Central celebration and if they don't get there they probably won't either.

For a long time I thought that 08 team was everything.

To me it still is to some extent. That has a lot to do with my being just 21 and fresh out of college at the time.

 

This team is obviously the new standard. From day one they've been horsefeathering destroying everyone.

he's intense on the mound, as are a lot of players. But there's plenty of instances of him being all happy go lucky with the other guys.

 

And most importantly he was a part of the chicken and beer story in Boston that led to Theo departing the Red Sox and completely turning around a Cubs franchise.

 

Not to mention he was a free agent that chose to come here and has done exactly what they needed him to do. It boggles my mind why a Cubs fan wouldn't like him.

Before the season I kept telling myself "don't be disappointed if they win fewer than the 97 from the 2015 team, it's very hard to win 97 games and they could be an even better team and win fewer games."
