Do you let Lester come out for the 7th?

He's due up 3rd, so if there's anyone on base it's an easy no. Maybe even if it's 2 out and none on too.

I guess my only question is why would we extend any of our pitchers past 100 at this point of the year? Not saying they won't, but why?

"Extend" depends on the situation. Lester was cruising pretty well, the only threatening hitter due up is LH, and Lester going another inning keeps bullpen arms from getting used too much. Sure you can always use the bottom of the pen guys, especially in September, but in a 0-0 game you're still playing to win, that's what all the players sign up for.

Christ this is sad.

Heavens forbid this offensive juggernaut has a couple of off games

Ski flat out makes me root for a Cubs loss. He's THAT awful.

I was worried about Grimm earlier in the season, but the reaper is back

He and Cahill have really come on nicely, plus Montgomery and Edwards looking good. When Strop and Rondon are back, the Cubs will have a pretty horsefeathering awesome bullpen.

I'm probably being overly cautious, but I am more focused on October. So if a guy is at 100 and it's tied in August, oh well if we lose.

I say we at least try to increase our playoff chances by 0.5 percent by using the advantage of a big lead to rest regulars and not push anyone past 100.

You do want to make sure they can handle 110-120 if necessary in October (obviously would be nice to just turn it over to the 3-headed bullpen monster before 110 pitches).

I'm with you in this case, but if they had sent him out for the 7th I wouldn't have been furious. Especially since they would've likely pulled him at the first sign of trouble.
