If the Cubs win 100 Joe gets Manager of the year again right?

think he'll suffer from the "they're too talented" angle

i have heard chatter on roberts because of what the dodgers have dealt with

Not your opinion, but this line of thinking cracks me up. "Dodgers bravely weather a storm of injuries after creating rotation stuffed full of injury-prone or currently injured pitchers, plus a lineup full of post-prime players. WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING?"

We're better than every team in every facet of the game. Give us all the awards. Nobody else deserves any. They are playing a different game.

the crazy thing is this is much closer to being true and accurate than hyperbole

Let's win the WS before we spew too much hyperbole. But the gloves are off once we do

oh man i can't wait to make the cubs fan heel turn. been over here training like

It's true regardless of how the postseason weighted crapshoot plays out. The Cubs are the best team at virtually every area of the game

I just want to shout like a loud ass about how awesome we are but I DO NOT want to hear curse curse curse [expletive]. I want giphy.gif

I just walked through Denver Airport wearing a Cubs shirt on and I got a half dozen variations of "Go Cubs, this is the year to break that curse, eh buddy" (including one bartman reference). I'm feeling very angry right now.

I know he hasn't been talked about much nationally but I still think Dusty will win it. They'll probably finish with the second best record in the NL (and maybe the majors), they're going to win the division by 10 games and they underachieved last year. Come late September the stories about how Dusty helped turn around the clubhouse will start coming out.

when is the last time the actual best team won the world series? Like last year I felt that Toronto and St Louis were the best but the Royals got it...Was SF the year before? We can take solace that if Lucy pulls away the football this year (more likely than not) we were still the best team in baseball.

We were the best team in baseball in 2008 and it sure as horsefeathers didn't feel like it when the playoffs were over.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't vote for the MLB awards till after the playoffs right? Or do they vote before the playoffs and just not give out the awards till after?

Just thinking that even if the voting is after, it'd be awful hard not to give that award to the guy that helms a Cubs WS win.

Before. All of those types of awards in every sport (maybe hockey does weird stuff that I don't know about but who cares) are voted for before the playoffs. They're regular season awards.

If Dave Roberts wins then the award is essentially meaningless

I don't have near as much a problem with Roberts winning it as I do with Dusty, who is already working his usual magic in Washington.

Roberts took a team that went 92-70 (.568 win pct) and has turned them into what is so far a 79-60 team (.568 win pct). Yay?

Well yeah, but you're not comparing apples to apples there when you consider they've gotten where the are now without Kershaw for 2 months. Not to mention all the other pitcher's arms falling off. I'm with david, Maddon got it last year and Roberts has done a good enough job that I'd have no issue with it. Baker can DIAF though.
