That's awesome but sucks Addy isn't going to get any RBIs for that.

He gets 1 because you can't assume the out at home.

One of the problems of Coomer (and yeah I flipped him with JD in my mind for some reason), is that he doesn't change the inflection of his voice when a ball enters play or not. So its impossible to tell if a ball is hit foul, or has committed an out, or was a basehit or *anything* until Coomer finishes his stream of consciousness.

Even if he was bad but at least you know, spoke with a different urgency when a ball was hit into the field of play, he'd be 100 times better

One of the problems? That is THE single biggest problem he has. If he didn't have that issue he'd still be subpar but wouldn't be a constant point of discussion.

i'd say the lack of ability to say words is a bigger problem.

I love how many times the Cubs score runs on weakly hit balls simply by being aggressive and forcing the defense to make a play. Running on contact with the IF in, executing a squeeze even though everyone knows its coming. Sure they sometimes get burned on it, but I think it's helped more than it's hurt, and it actually won them a freaking playoff game last year.

Coomers biggest issue in PBP is he fails to mention important details until after a play is over.

Absolutely. There was a period of time that I was starting to get worried the Cubs were trying to execute squeeze plays too frequently during the regular season (as I thought, hey, keep that horsefeathers under wraps and bust it out in the playoffs like last year) but they've been so good at executing that I'm cool with it.

Sorry for getting excited about the Cubs scoring, guys.

We know it's not something you're used to doing, you'll get better with practice.

Exactly, like on that Russell play he would call it something like "Russell grounds one to short, and now Zobrist is coming home to score from second..... Long Pause.......The SS booted the ball and 2 runs score, Addy ended up at 2B."

Nice, quick inning. Let's get some more runs.

When is part two coming? :)

This weekend. I've been really busy with work. And I also am a volunteer coach for a local high school football team. And our first game is Friday. So I've been really swamped.

I am going to write a smaller piece, about Willson tonight though.

Hey, you're infinitely ahead of my writing pace lately.
