Up 2 runs to start an inning against the lower part of the order is a fine time to put Rondon in. And honesty I thought he has pretty good stuff. He got ahead of the first hitter who admittedly had a hard hit single. Then got ahead of the 2nd hitter who laid down a perfect bunt. And then the HR. he probably should have been pulled after that though before the 2nd HR and the bunch of hits Wood gave up (man he's been bad lately).

Should we be at all worried about Rondon? I know he's had a home run issue this year but yeesh.

No, his velocity is completely fine. His location was a bit of a mess tonight but with nearly two weeks off chalk it up to rust. He also had given up 4 HRs in 42 innings going into tonight, which sure that's not great but it's nowhere near "an issue."

His home runs allowed are up, but I believe literally everything else except ERA is better than last season.

Rondon should have been pulled after the first HR, but anything before that would have really seemed like jumping the gun since, like you said, his stuff and velocity looked good and he was ahead of Wong and got upended by a perfect bunt. I was expecting him to get out of it until that home run.

FWIW, with off day tomorrow and extra rest before his next start I'd imagine he's gonna be fine

You can have your thumb sliced off by a table saw and be feeling better shortly after "treatment."

Go make out with Koyie Hill you weirdo.

The only thing good about this game is that it was the last game on ESPN for the Cubs this year.

Do they do flexing of games like the NFL towards the end of the year? Our last Sunday game against St. Louis has a TBD start time.

espn baseball broadcasts are difficult to watch. the camera angles they use for most plays annoy the hell out of me.

I actually enjoy their K-Zone and Jessica Mendoza is a nice refreshing touch to the sausage fest that is baseball.

Just so everyone knows, I told ct to wait on starting the next thread to give beantowncubfan a chance to start it. He showed up briefly on Saturday but didn't respond to my PMs so ct has the go ahead to start tomorrow's thread.
