With the win last night, the Cubs became the first team to reach 70 wins and John Lackey acquired his 174th tooth. Congratulations, John. Please don't hurt me.

Anyways, 8 in a row!

The Angels will be sending up former Cubs great, Ricky Nolasco. You might remember Ricky as the hidden centerpiece of the Juan Pierre trade! Thanks for that, Ricky. Juan really showed up for us that year and led the league in hits (AND NOTHING ELSE YOU HEAR ME) as he's want to do! Ricky Nolasco's stats this year look like this:

W L ERA G GS IP BB SO ERA+ FIP WHIP H9 HR9 BB9 SO9 SO/W
4 8 5.23 22 22 130.2 29 97 79 4.47 1.332 10.0 1.4 2.0 6.7 3.34

He's almost as bad as Jered Weaver. Almost. Let's see if the Cubs can get him there.

The Cubs are sending up Jason Hammel who still has yet to turn into a pumpkin. Keep eating them tater chips, Jason!

Given this recent string of victories the Cubs are pulling out, I'm trying not to get to confident about my abilities to clearly be the driving force behind this winning streak, but horsefeathers it. I'm giving in to dark side

Keep winning, Cubs.

What was our longest winning streak last year? I know we at least got to 9 but I don't remember if it got past that.

9 twice if you include the wild card game

Was 7 ours this year until yesterday? (Twice I believe)

I thought they hit 8 games this season.

Regardless, if they win tonight, everyone gets one of these:

So looking ahead to October it looks like our opening round opponent will be either LA, SF, MIA, or STL...any preferences ..personally want to avoid LA if Kershaw is healthy and SF just because

God I'm hungry. Hot ham and cheese is delicious.

Ohhhhhh, how the mighty have fallen.

(And before MR kills me, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST A HOT HAM AND CHEESE. This dude just keeps mocking us for our food choices)

Man, I really just assumed Nolasco had been much better than he's been.

Well, maybe he was; BR seems to hate him vs. what Fangraphs values him at.

Man, it still bugs me they never put that second season of Human Giant out on DVD.

It took me forever just to find a series of them to pirate that wasn't just one giant long video file of every episode. I never understood it either.

Major League Baseball needs to step in and force this team to give us Trout for nothing. He shouldn't be relegated to spending his prime years playing behind Jered Weaver and Ricky Nolasco. Send him to where he belongs.

Pirates and Mets still have a pulse.

But yeah, even if the Nats somehow passed us for best record, we'd still face SF or LA.

Only preference is not to face St. Louis or New York, because losing to them would annoy me extra hard.
